FALL INTERN HIGHLIGHT🎃🍂
Shayla relocated from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Colorado Springs in 2015 as an HR Army service member. Since then, she has raised 5 kiddos and completed the Manitou Incline 4 times (!!!). After retiring from the Army, Shayla's proximity to the Jag Corps inspired her to continue her education at UCCS. With an acute attention to justice, she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and is set to graduate in May 2027. Ultimately, Shayla has future goals of working as a lawyer to play her part in ensuring accountability and equity in our legal system.
In addition to her schooling, Shayla is an active member in Phi Alpha Delta and part of the Fall 2026 Women's Community Leadership Initiative cohort. She looks forward to developing her public speaking skills and becoming a mentor for young people in her community.
In her free time, Shayla enjoys finding new shows on Netflix, going to the movies, and seeing what's new at Barnes & Noble.
We are so excited for Shayla to join the team and support our work building resiliency in young people 10 - 18.
