Today we held a celebration of the birth of our Nation’s Flag. It is during this ceremony, that we respectfully retire flags that can no longer be flown.

Past Department Commander Rick Oertel, his wife Sue, and Immediate Past Post Commander La Monte Thomas attended the Youth Cadet Law Enforcement (YCLE) graduation, presided over by ANEC and YCLE Director Bill Feasenmyer and the State Police. Department Commander Scott Maddrea also was a featured speaker at the graduation and both he and Bill gave out awards to cadets. The ceremony was attended by the Leadership of the State Police and the parents of the graduates. It was an impressive ceremony that is recommended to all for future attendance.

On 11 June the Post installed our 2026-2027 Officers and Executive Committee. The Installing Officer was Past Post and 11th District Commander Skip Klaas. He installed Tim Capps as Commander, Brad Harter as 1st Vice Commander, Harold Gresham as 2nd Vice Commander, and Eric Wagner as 3rd Vice Commander. He also installed Tonya Meunier (Adjutant); William Gibson (Chaplain); Kevin Jones (Finance Officer); Scott Hurley (Judge Advocate); James Gill (Service and Athletic Officer); and Bob Emerick and Susan Knutson (Sergeants as Arms). Outgoing Commander La Monte Thomas presented certificates to his Officers and also presented a gift to his wife, the First Lady. He also thanked all who helped and mentored him during his year as Commander. As his last official act he announced that our Legionnaire of the Year for 2025-2026 was Dick Cole. After being ‘pinned’ by his spouse and receiving his gavel, Commander Tim Capps outlined his philosophy of ‘command’ of the Post and conducted the remainder of the Post business for the evening.
