📈 What Do These Numbers Mean for Colona?

As part of the Plan Commission’s ongoing work to update Colona’s Comprehensive Plan, we continue to use community profile data to better understand how the city is changing and how to plan responsibly for the future.

This information helps inform important discussions, such as:

▪️How a high homeownership rate reflects neighborhood stability

▪️How commuting patterns relate to transportation and infrastructure needs

▪️How age distribution guides planning for families, working adults, and seniors

By understanding how Colona lives, works, and grows, the Plan Commission can better evaluate long-term needs related to housing, roads, utilities, and community spaces.

📊 Data provides an important foundation—but thoughtful planning is strengthened when that data is paired with community input.

What the Plan Commission is working on right now

Our current focus is reviewing sections of the 2008 comprehensive plan and identifying what still works, what needs updating, and what no longer reflects Colona today.

This takes time, discussion, and research—but it helps ensure the final plan is thoughtful and realistic.
