🚧🚧 If you are planning on coming to our office in Cologne (Carver County Public Works Headquarters), be sure to follow the posted signs.

Carver County is resurfacing and reconstructing the parking lot at the Public Works facility in Cologne. Work began on Aug. 17, 2026. Construction is expected to continue through mid-October.

Northern Red Oak (Quercus Rubra)

A medium sized, deciduous tree with a rounded to broad-spreading, often irregular crown. Typically grows at a moderate-to-fast rate to a height of 50-75′ (often larger in the wild). Dark, lustrous green leaves (grayish-white beneath) with 7-11, toothed lobes which are sharply pointed at the tips. Leaves turn brownish-red in the fall. Insignificant flowers in separate male and female catkins appear in spring. Fruits are acorns (with flat, saucer-shaped cups) which mature in early fall. An abundant crop of acorns may not occur before this tree reaches 40 years old.

Volunteer your time to protect water resources!

There is an opening on our citizen advisory committee. This committee provides input to staff and makes recommendations to the County Board on water resource policies, projects and programs.

The opening is for a citizen representative from Carver County Commissioner District 1.

Submit your application by December 28, 2025. Appointments are made in early January.

The Carver Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) currently has a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors for District 1 and candidates are being sought.

This is an appointment to fill out the current District 1 term (through December 31, 2026).

VACANCY: The Carver County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) has a Vacancy on our Board of Supervisors in District 1. The SWCD Board is accepting letters of interest from candidates interested in finishing out the current term of District 1 (through December 2026). Candidates must live within District 1 (red highlighted area), which includes:
• Chanhassen Precinct 4
• Chanhassen Precinct 6
• Chaska Ward 3
• Chaska Ward 4

SWCD’s are special purpose units of government that manage and direct local conservation programs. Candidates should have a strong interest in conservation of natural resources. Letters of interest should be submitted by Wednesday, June 18, 4:00 PM.
