St. Louis Magazine "Last year Illinois hit record numbers of $703 million in production spending, and Chicago was ranked as the third best city to live and work as a moviemaker.

On top of the 35 percent base tax credit, productions in the Metro East could be eligible for an additional 5 percent for filming outside of Chicago and another 5 percent for being a “certified green production” by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity."

St. Louis’ film commissioner Kelley Hiatt is thrilled by the possibility of productions being able to shoot on location in Missouri and use up some of Missouri’s tax credit while simultaneously taking advantage of the Illinois sound studios and that state’s unlimited credits.

“We’ve got the buildings, and we’ve got all the kind of architecture that is needed to really shape an architecturally pleasing television show,” Hiatt says. ”Our people obviously can be working across the river, and then the people [from] across the river could be working here.”

Breakwell says the studios will create 500 permanent jobs when complete as well as bring in 300 to 500 temporary jobs with each production and 300 construction jobs while they are built.

Judge Coughenour: I've been at this for 44 years. I have never encountered the hostility toward the judiciary that has existed in this country in the, the last year. And I don't think it's' because we're making bad decisions. I think it's because there are people who think that they can make a lot of political hay out of criticizing the federal judiciary.

President Trump (in 2025): "And also we cannot allow a handful of communist radical left judges to obstruct the enforcement of our laws and assume the duties that belong solely to the president of the United States."

When President Trump lost a battle in court to deport migrants, he called the judge a lunatic. When immigration crackdowns were ruled illegal, he called the judges monsters. It's incendiary comments like that that have provoked a torrent of death threats.

Federal judges say criticism from President Trump can put their safety at risk. The White House says the president "understands the dangers of political violence."
