The Collinsville Fire Department mourns the loss of Owens & Company Fire Chief Todd Owens this morning. Chief Owens, a former Northwest Rogers County Fire Department Battalion Chief, led the department for over 25 years and was a pillar of the Vera community. The Collinsville Fire Department provides EMS services to the Vera community and maintains a fire mutual aid agreement with Owens & Company as well. Rest easy chief, we'll take it from here.

Volunteers with the Collinsville Fire Department spent an unusually cool first day of summer training on vehicle extraction tactics. The department maintains multiple sets of these tools, commonly known as the Jaws of Life, should they need to be utilized in an emergency situation. The department would like to thank Collinsville Wrecker for donating the car used during the training; as always the department and its career and volunteer firefighters stand ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to protect you and those that matter to you most.

The transition from winter to spring brings with it grass fire season in Oklahoma. Volunteers with the Collinsville Fire Department spent this past Monday (4/5) evening training on grass fire tactics. The night's training, led by Captain Waid Whitlock, started with a 'refresher' on each of the department's grass rigs. After that a fire suppression scenario was simulated as volunteers were expected to arrive on scene, start the grass rig motor to allow for water flow from the on-board tank, and suppress a simulated cone fire-line while maintaining contact with the driver and following all of the department's established safety protocols. The department’s career and volunteer firefighters stand ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to protect you, your family, and your property.

Volunteers with the Collinsville Fire Department responded with Career 'A' Shift firefighters to a mutual aid request from the Skiatook Fire Department for a grass fire just west of the Cooper Landing neighborhood at U.S. Highway 75 and E. 126th Street N yesterday (3/6) afternoon. Collinsville crews arrived first on scene and were able to put the fire out before any property damage occurred. The city maintains fire and EMS mutual aid agreements (Collinsville Rural, Owasso, Skiatook, Owens & Company, NW Rogers) to ensure that you remain safe and protected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The volunteers of the Collinsville Fire Department spent the first day of February training on Search and Rescue at the Washington Elementary building located at 13th and Exchange in town. The building, constructed in 1912, affords the department the ability to train on a multi-level, multi-room structure right in the department's backyard. While volunteers are tasked with preparing for anything, in all likelihood we would man a 2nd Out Engine and would be responsible for Search and Rescue assistance on scene if needed. Captain Waid Whitlock led this training, and teams of two and three were formed for a simulated child rescue operation. As always, the department and its career and volunteer firefighters stand ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to protect you and your family.

Chief Bolar and Firefighter Bradford died in a house fire trying to save two residents of the home, who also were killed in the blaze. According to Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire was reported at 3:07 a.m. by the residents, who said the house was on fire and they were stuck in the bedroom. Waynoka Fire Department arrived on the scene at 3:16 a.m. and reported fire was blocking the door. Firefighters were unable to reach the residents through the window, the release said. The roof of the home collapsed, trapping the firefighters, who were looking for family members inside. Waynoka is a town of just under 1,000 residents and has an eight-person volunteer fire department.
