On Friday, June 5, teachers from HCPS joined educators across Division VI for a professional development session with the Dan River Basin Association focused on Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs).

Through collaboration, exploration, and hands-on activities, teachers discovered new ways to bring science standards to life and connect students with authentic environmental learning experiences. From outdoor investigations to inquiry-based lessons, the day was all about making science engaging, relevant, and memorable for students.

HCPS is proud to support innovative professional learning that equips teachers with tools to inspire curiosity and exploration in every classroom.

Congratulations to the Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School Concert Band on being named the recipient of the 2026 Busch Gardens Music Showcase Festivals Sweepstakes Award.

This distinguished honor recognizes the FCMS Concert Band as the highest-scoring Junior High/Middle School Instrumental Ensemble among all ensembles that participated in the Busch Gardens Music Showcase Festivals this season.

This achievement is a testament to the talent, dedication, and hard work of our student musicians and their directors. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to excellence and the way they represent FCMS and HCPS.

Families in Henry County, Martinsville, and Patrick County can now register students in Pre-K through 12th grade to receive FREE back-to-school essentials, including:

✅ A new pair of shoes
✅ A new pair of socks
✅ A backpack filled with school supplies

📌 Students must be present to register.

📅 Registration Dates:
• Saturday, July 11, 2026 | 9 a.m. - Noon
• Tuesday, July 21, 2026 | 6 - 8 p.m.

Multiple registration locations are available throughout Henry County, Martinsville, and Patrick County.
