🚔 Community Safety Reminder 🚔

Protect What’s Yours! With warmer weather here, we’re seeing an uptick in property crimes and vehicle break-ins across our community. Most of these crimes are crimes of opportunity — let’s make sure criminals find no opportunities in Collinsville.

Quick Prevention Tips:

✅Lock your vehicle - every time. Even if you’re just running into a store for a minute.
✅Never leave your car keys inside of your car.
✅Never leave valuables in plain sight. Put bags, electronics, purses, and tools in the trunk or take them with you.
✅Secure your home. Check that all doors and windows are locked, especially before bedtime.
✅Improve lighting. Motion-sensor lights around your home and garage are very effective.
✅Trust your instincts. If you see someone walking through neighborhoods looking into cars or trying door handles, report it immediately.

See something suspicious? Call us at (618) 344-2131 or dial 911 if it’s in progress.

Together, we can keep Collinsville safe. Thank you for being our eyes and ears!

The training is expected to last for several hours and may include lights, wee-woos, and barking sounds. Please do not approach the furry bundles of teeth. Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the Collinsville Police Department family — K9 Cyna!
Some of you may notice the name sounds familiar… and yes, it is pronounced just like John Cena. While John Cena is known for saying “You can’t see me,” those looking to bring their criminal activity to Collinsville will soon find out the same thing applies to Cyna’s speed and tracking abilities. While John Cena was looking to hit the “five knuckle shuffle,” our Cyna has her own soon to be famous “four paw shuffle.” We asked Cyna if she had a message for would be criminals and while our translation may be a little off, it seemed pretty clear, “Your time is up, my time is now.”
Cyna and her handler, Officer Connor Diecker, have already completed training and are ready to bring their hustle, loyalty, and respect to the streets of Collinsville! Welcome Cyna!

Last night was one of those special nights at the Collinsville Police Department where we celebrated growth and opportunity. Sgt. Scott Pritchett was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will assume the role of Administrative Lieutenant. Officer Kevin Tisch was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will lead patrol squad D. Additionally, we welcomed two new officers to the CPD family. Brayden Dreyer will begin his law enforcement career by attending the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy. Cody Sinclair joins us after serving about two years with the Maryville Police Department. Fire and Police Commissioners Steve Hoelscher and Jaimie Corradini administered the oath of office to those promoted or hired. We are confident that all four will excel in their new positions and faithfully serve our residents. Congratulations to all!
