NOW is the time! Read this excellent piece by Kathy Connolly, "Spring Into Action Against Invasive Plants" - "Repetitive cutting before June can seriously set back and eventually end woody plant invasions. Why? Birds are excellent indicators of ecosystem health. In May 2023, Jay Kaplan led a bird walk on Collinsville Pollen Trail and 26 Species were sighted within a period of 53 Minutes. The observation area spanned .8 mile and 5 people participated.

The following are numbers and types of bird species observed:

CALLING ALL BUDDING GARDENERS (Ages 7-11)
Spots are still available in the excellent week-long program called GROW Mural Project (Wi******er, CT)
July 17–21 / 8:30am-3:00pm led by Master Gardener/Teaching Artist, Meredith Arcari Luciano

Kids will design and plant a small installation using native plants in AMP’s pollinator pathway and nature playground. Other projects include building a birdhouse, creating a mason bee hotel and making treats for birds. Immersive, hands-on and educational, children will be inspired to practice mindfulness in the surroundings of AMP’s natural wooded habitat and learn how to garden for wildlife in their own backyards.
