TODAY WE REMEMBER PATROLMAN DANIEL CALABRESE #95

Hired: 07/08/1985

End of Watch/ Killed in the Line of Duty: 06/12/1994

Patrolman Daniel Calabrese Jr was killed in the line of duty on 06/12/1994 at the age of 39. He was the first, and remains the only, Winslow Twp. police officer to be killed in the line of duty.

Patrolman Daniel Calabrese Jr. was fatally shot when he responded to a report of a disturbance at the Fireside Lounge and Restaurant on June 12, 1994 at approximately 20:00 hours.

Patrolman Daniel Calabrese Jr is survived by his wife Nancy Calabrese, his son Daniel Calabrese III and his daughter Laura Calabrese.

In May 2005 Sgt. Daniel Calabrese III followed in his father’s footsteps and graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy. He took a job as a Class II Police Officer in Wildwood, working the early summer months on the boardwalk. Then on 01/22/2008 Daniel Calabrese III was sworn in at the Winslow Township Police Department, where he continues to work as a patrol supervisor.

We remember Officer Calabrese and the sacrifice he made, today and everyday.
