🚨🚨Big news for Day Shift Charlie Team.

Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Lewis on his recent promotion to Sergeant in charge of our Day Shift Charlie Team.

For the past several years, Sgt. Lewis has served in our Support Services Division as a K9 Officer, working alongside his partner, K9 Maxim. During that time, he built a reputation as someone who shows up, works hard, stays steady under pressure, and does whatever needs to be done to serve this community well.

Now, Sgt. Lewis is stepping into a new chapter of his career. He has chosen to pursue a leadership path through our Patrol Division, where he will be responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring the officers assigned to Charlie Team.

And he is not hanging up the leash.

While taking on his new supervisory role, Sgt. Lewis will continue serving as a K9 handler with Maxim for the foreseeable future. Leading a patrol team is a major responsibility. Maintaining the standards and demands of a K9 team is also a major responsibility. Taking on both at the same time says a lot about Sgt. Lewis, his work ethic, and his commitment to this profession.

Sgt. Lewis is known inside our department as a dedicated public servant, a hard worker, and someone who cares deeply about helping shape the next generation of police officers. That kind of leadership matters, and we are excited to see him bring that same drive and commitment to Charlie Team.

Congratulations, Sgt. Lewis. We are proud of you, proud of Maxim, and excited to see what this next chapter brings as you both transition into the Patrol Division.

A crash occurred in the 9300 block of Apison Pike when a sedan changed lanes without seeing another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A road‑rage complaint occurred at University Drive and College Drive East after a caller reported being followed. A traffic stop was conducted, and both parties stated they had a misunderstanding over lane movement. Advice was given to both.

A two‑vehicle crash occurred in the 9200 block of Lee Highway in the drive‑through at Truist Bank. No injuries were reported.

Suspicious individuals were contacted in the 10700 block of Apison Pike after being observed parked in a wooded area. They stated they were collecting flat rocks for a walkway and were advised to obtain permission before removing anything from the property.

A property damage complaint was investigated in the 5100 block of Apison Villas Circle regarding a delayed hit‑and‑run.

A road hazard was reported in the 4400 block of Suhrie Drive, where a fallen tree blocked the roadway. Public Works responded and removed the tree.

A misdemeanor citation was issued to an individual for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

An alarm was checked in the 9400 block of Apison Pike at Tractor Supply. The building was secure.

Another alarm occurred shortly afterward at the same location. The building remained secure, and the keyholder arrived to address the ongoing issue.

Betty was last seen on Monday leaving her home in Chattanooga and is believed to be traveling in a 2008 Red Chevy Cobalt with TN tag PD69088.

Betty is 5’4” tall, 165 lbs., with gray hair and brown eyes. She has a medical condition that may impair her ability to return safely without assistance.

An animal‑complaint call occurred in the 3900 block of University Drive involving two dogs running at large. Family members retrieved the dogs until the owner returned home.

A misdemeanor citation was issued in the 9300 block of Lee Highway for Driving on a Suspended License.

A crash occurred in the 4600 block of Sweet Berry Lane involving a vehicle and a trailer.

A crash occurred in the 9500 block of Apison Pike when one vehicle rear‑ended another while exiting a parking lot.

A crash occurred in the 9200 block of Homewood Circle when an inexperienced driver left the roadway and struck a utility box.

Contact was made, and they explained that they only overreacted during a breakup and had not taken any medication. A friend remained with them for support.

A citizen assist was handled in the 4900 block of Swinyar Drive when an individual believed her upstairs neighbor was following her movements from within his own apartment. She was advised to speak with her landlord regarding her concerns.

A hit‑and‑run crash occurred in the 5500 block of Little Debbie Parkway. No injuries were reported, and an investigation is underway.

An unknown 911 call was received in the 4500 block of Forsythia Way. Everything checked clear.

A civil issue was reported in the 9700 block of Robinson Farm after an Airbnb renter stated that others refused to contribute to the damages that occurred at the rental. They were advised it was a civil matter and given options.

Collegedale Police Halt Search in Locke Homicide

Collegedale, TN (June 18, 2026) – [UPDATE] After a two-day search for the body of Robert George Locke at the Birchwood Landfill, and with the assistance and advice of local and experienced federal partners, the decision has been made to conclude any further recovery efforts.

Rumors and speculation about this disturbing crime continue to spill across the news feed and social media platforms. False and misleading elements of this case continue to be shared as if they were the facts.

There is no evidence to support that there was ever any connection between Mr. Locke and the suspect, Kian Andrew Neal. According to Neal’s own statements he did not know and had never met Mr. Locke. All available information indicates that the victim had been chosen at random.

We strongly believe that the evidence, which has consistently corroborated the confession provided by the suspect after waiving his Miranda Rights, will show that not only was the murder of Mr. Locke planned and premeditated, but that Kian Andrew Neal brutally killed and disposed of the body.

While the Collegedale Police Department does not condone the crimes committed by Robert George Locke in the early 2000s, for which he was convicted and sent to prison, we also cannot condone an act of murder regardless of who the victim may be or what they may have done in the past. Our duty is to uphold the law impartially and to ensure that justice is applied equally to all people.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder of Mr. Locke remains an active investigation.

The attorney for Kian Andrew Neal entered a plea of Not Guilty this week when he appeared in front of the Collegedale Municipal Court. His next scheduled appearance has been set for July 1, 2026.
