Our department was dispatched to the 4900 block of Howardsville Road this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, our members found a dump truck rolled onto its side in the roadway, with the sole occupant unable to exit the vehicle.

Our crews made contact with the driver, who was alert and oriented. Crews extricated the occupant from the vehicle, who was then transported to the hospital by Hamilton County EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Howardsville Road will remain closed for an extended period while the dump truck is removed and the scene is cleared.

Overnight, our firefighters were dispatched to reports of a rollover crash with entrapment in the 8400 block of Apison Pike.

Both human occupants of the vehicle had gotten out prior to our arrival. However, our firefighters rescued 2 baby goats. 🐐

Despite being baa-aadly frightened, they were unharmed. One person was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Our crews cared for the goats until a family member arrived to take them home.

A vacant home in Ooltewah sustained heavy fire damage late this morning.

A neighbor reported to Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District that a house at 7298 Flagridge Drive was on fire. Dispatchers received a live video from the caller confirming the fire, and Tri-Community firefighters were dispatched at 11:14 a.m.

Upon arrival, Engine 1 reported a two-story structure that was approximately 50% involved in flames. Although the home was reported as vacant, crews conducted a primary search to confirm no occupants were present. Engine 5 established a water supply from a hydrant about 400 feet away. Due to low water pressure, Engine 3 assisted by boosting pressure for on-scene crews.

A deck gun was deployed to knock down the bulk of the visible flames, followed by an aggressive interior attack that brought the fire under control.

A mutual aid request for additional personnel brought units from Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department and Chattanooga Fire Department to the scene, while Catoosa County Fire Department & City of East Ridge Fire Rescue provided station coverage in our district. Hamilton County EMS stood by on-scene throughout operations; no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the TCFD Fire Marshal’s Office.

Because the address is at the end of a residential street, no major roadways were impacted by this incident.
