📚🫡 Community Engagement at District Heights Elementary School!

Today, Sgt. Rogers had the opportunity to visit District Heights Elementary School and speak with the students about the important role the Maryland State Police plays throughout the state.

Sgt. Rogers enjoyed answering questions from the students and sharing more about the work Maryland State Troopers do to serve and protect our communities. The visit even ended with a friendly salute! 🫡

🏃🏾‍♂️ Community, Wellness & Service! 🏃🏾‍♀️

Today, Sgt. Rogers and Cadet Barnes had the opportunity to attend St. Mark’s UMC Emancipation Day “Run/Walk 5K for Diabetes.” The event brought the community together to raise awareness about diabetes, support those affected by the disease, and promote health and wellness.

A special congratulations goes out to Cadet Barnes, who participated in the 5K and proudly finished 3rd place overall in the Men’s Category! 🥉👏🏾

We would also like to congratulate everyone who participated and crossed the finish line. Your dedication to health, wellness, and community is something to celebrate!

We would like to take a moment to congratulate Trooper Donadio on being selected as the College Park/Forestville Barracks Trooper of the Month for August 2026! 👏🏾

While responding to a call regarding a pedestrian walking along the highway near John Hanson Highway and the Capital Beltway, Tpr. Donadio demonstrated exceptional professionalism, courage, and dedication to duty.

Upon locating the individual, who refused to comply with commands and ran into active traffic, Tpr. Donadio immediately intervened at great personal risk. Through her swift response and skillful actions, she prevented the individual from being struck by a vehicle and averted a potentially tragic incident.

Tpr. Donadio’s dedication to duty, composure under pressure, and unwavering commitment to the preservation of life are a true reflection of the highest standards of the Maryland State Police.

Her actions are a credit to herself, the College Park/Forestville Barracks, and the Maryland State Police.

🎒📚 Back to School Meet & Greet! 📚🎒

We are forever grateful for our dedicated educators and the important role they play in shaping the future of our youth. In an effort to support our students, educators, and families, the Maryland State Police partnered with the Prince George’s County Police Department to welcome students back to school!

Across Prince George’s County, members of law enforcement were out bright and early, greeting students with smiles, encouragement, and well wishes for a safe, successful, and exciting school year. 👮🏾‍♂️👮🏾‍♀️💙

We would like to extend a special thank you to the Prince George’s County Police Department for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful community initiative. We are proud to stand alongside our partners in supporting our children and helping make their return to school a positive one!

Back-to-School Drive 🎒📚

On August 22, 2026, the Maryland State Police hosted our Back-to-School Drive at the Laurel Boys & Girls Club in Laurel, Maryland!

The event was filled with community vendors, allied law enforcement agencies, school supplies, sweet treats, and plenty of fun for our youth. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and community partners, more than 300 backpacks were provided to local youth to help them prepare for the upcoming school year. 🎒📓✏️

We were honored to have Colonel Jackson of the Maryland State Police join us for this special event. Colonel Jackson had the opportunity to personally provide a young student with a backpack and spend time taking photos with the Maryland State Police K9 who was also in attendance. 🐾

We would also like to extend a special thank-you to Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy for attending our event, meeting with members of the community, and greeting everyone in attendance.

Most importantly, we want to thank all of our sponsors, community partners, vendors, allied law enforcement agencies, volunteers, and everyone who came out to support us. Your generosity and commitment to our community helped make this Back-to-School Drive a tremendous success!

Join us on August 22, 2026, for our Back to School Drive! We’ll be giving out school supplies to help local students get ready for the upcoming school year, with assistance from members of the Boys & Girls Club of Laurel.
