Just a quick reminder for everyone — even though the ice is gone, any motorized boats are NOT allowed on the lake at this time, that does include electric motors.

Please respect the current restrictions and help keep the lake safe for everyone. We’ll be sure to update when motorized use is permitted. Thanks for your cooperation!

Love the outdoors and working with people? Vega State Park is now accepting applications for seasonal positions! Join our team and spend your workdays surrounded by beautiful scenery while helping visitors enjoy everything the park has to offer.

✨ Seasonal positions may include:

Visitor Center & park support

Cleaning & maintenance

ANS Inspections

Limited Commissioned Ranger

We offer free seasonal housing on the park as well!

🌲 The park remains open for recreation. 🌲

🚨 Seasonal Closure Update 🚨

Due to freezing weather conditions, the Fish Cleaning Station is now closed for the season.

The water at the Dump Station has also been shut off for the season to prevent freeze damage — however, the Dump Station remains open for dry dumping only. 🚐

Both facilities will reopen in the spring when temperatures allow.

🚰 Fall Water Shut-Off Schedule at Vega State Park 🍂

As we move into colder weather, we’ll begin shutting off water throughout the park for the season. Please plan your visits accordingly!

📅 Scheduled Shut-Off Dates:
🎣 Fish Cleaning Station – October 15
🚐 Dump Station – October 31 (pending weather)
🏕️ Oak Point & Aspen Grove Campgrounds – October 31
🏕️ Early Settlers Campground & Camper Services Building – November 15 (pending weather)

🚤 Attention Vega Visitors 🚤

Due to low water levels, the Island Boat Ramp will close for the season on Wednesday, August 28th at 4:00 PM.

⛔ Early Settlers Boat Ramp remains closed.

✅ Hand launching of boats/paddleboards will still be allowed after August 28.

🕗We will continue to offer ANS (Aquatic Nuisance Species) boat inspections for motorized hand launched vessels (i.e. trolling motors, small outboard, electric motors, etc.) from 8 am to 4 pm at the Visitor Center.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Vega safe and enjoyable for everyone and we look forward to next summer of boating with all of you! 🌲💧

🔥 Mesa County is now under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions 🔥
Due to extreme fire danger, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are now in effect. Please review the rules carefully to help protect our community and natural resources.

❌ NOT ALLOWED:
🚫 Wood or charcoal fires (campfires, fire pits, chimineas, tiki torches, wood stoves)
🚫 Smoking (except inside an enclosed vehicle/building)
🚫 Parking/driving off-road where grass/brush is within 10 ft
🚫 Fireworks, tracer rounds, explosive targets, rockets
🚫 Welding/torches with open flame (unless cleared area + extinguisher)
🚫 Burning debris or vegetation without permit
✅ ALLOWED:
✔ Gas or liquid-fueled grills, stoves, lanterns (with shut-off valves, 3 ft from dry vegetation)
✔ Gas fire pits (must be able to turn off flame)
✔ Agricultural burns ONLY with Sheriff’s Office Permit
⚠ Please follow these rules — one spark is all it takes. Let’s keep Mesa County safe!

The Camper Services Building at Vega State Park will be closed for maintenance and repairs on the following dates:

📆August 20th
🕔 From 5:00 PM to Midnight

We appreciate your patience while we complete these necessary repairs to keep our facilities in great shape.

Seasonal Ranger Christina captured this heart-melting moment of two curious fawns checking out the road on the park. These little ones are a great reminder to slow down and stay alert while driving—wildlife is active this time of year!
