Happy Birthday to Firefighter Chris Dowell. Chris is the longest serving member and has served in every role on the department, including Chief. Chris oversees the majority of our trainings and is an invaluable asset to us. He brings a lot of knowledge with him from his full time job at Bloomington Fire and is always calm and cool at every call! Enjoy your day Chris!

To say we will miss Les is an understatement. He taught so many of us everything we know. We all aspired to be like him. Les was such a great friend to so many, he was trustworthy, hilarious, and had the best stories from the good old days working with Lifeline. But what stands out most of all, he had the very best, most unforgettable, contagious laugh! We will miss you forever Les! Thanks for everything.

It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of GAH Ambulance Service Paramedic Les Donnelly, who dedicated over three decades of service to emergency medical care and the communities he served.

Les began his career with Gibson Area Hospital Ambulance Service in November 2005, initially working PRN while also serving full-time with Lifeline Ambulance Service in Bloomington. He later transitioned into a full-time role with Gibson when the service began providing paramedic coverage for the Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association (EMCAA).

Stationed in Colfax for many years, Les worked alongside EMCAA volunteers, building strong relationships and providing exceptional care to those in need. After approximately eight years, he continued his service out of the Saybrook-Arrowsmith Fire Station, adapting to changes within the system while remaining a steady and dependable presence.

During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Les stepped into a vital leadership role, becoming an integral part of the ambulance service management team. Even while facing his own illness, he remained committed to his team, his profession, and the community he cared so deeply about.

Les passed away on April 30, 2026, after a courageous fight. His dedication, leadership, and compassion will not be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, coworkers, and all those whose lives he touched.

Rest easy, Les. Your service and sacrifice will always be remembered.

Today, we honor the dedication and service of Firefighter/Paramedic Darren Reinagle who celebrated 7 years with the Colfax Fire Department in March. Thank you for the hard working example you set for the department.
