Even with recent rain, wildland fires can still start and spread quickly. This afternoon all of District 11 and the City of Colfax responded to a fire on North Palouse River Road just outside the city limits. The fire grew to roughly 3–4 acres and was only minutes away from climbing into the canyon walls, rocks, and timber — which would have made containment far more difficult.

September is known for producing large fires. Please stay safe and hold off on burning yard waste until conditions improve.

** Street Closure**
Deanway St. will be blocked @205 N Deanway Thursday 8/20 from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Traffic will be allowed from either end of the street, but through traffic will not be permitted.

Due to a water line break, homes in the affected area (F Street and Chase Street) may experience brown or discolored water. If this occurs, please run cold water from your bathtub faucet or an outside spigot until the water runs clear.

City crews are currently responding to a water main break at Chase Street and F Street.

Water service will be out in the mean time while repairs are being completed. Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service.

This girl was found in front of Grandma Shop and has been brought to City Hall for safekeeping.
