MICHAEL ARTHUR WINTER

Deputy Sheriff Michael Winter succumbed to injuries sustained the previous day when he was thrown from his horse while on a special detail at the Memorial Day Parade along West Chicago Street in Quincy, Michigan.

He suffered a severe head injury when something spooked the horse near the intersection of West Chicago Street and West Street, causing it to buck and throw him. He was flown to a hospital in Indiana where he was taken off of life support the following day so his organs could be donated.

Caught Being Safe! 🚤🦺

These young ladies were caught doing the right thing by wearing their required life jackets while enjoying a day on the water by Deputy Hoffman. As a reward for being safe, they received dessert coupons courtesy of the Maynard Family McDonald's.

We would like to thank McDonald’s for their continued partnership and support of our Life Jacket Safety Program. Working together, we can help keep our lakes safe and encourage responsible boating for all ages.

Wear it. Enjoy it. Make it home safely. 🦺☀️🌊

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, service, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we all take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who served with honor.
