Traffic Update: Arkabutla Dam Repairs

Starting today, October 27, the road across the top of Arkabutla Dam will close for approximately two weeks. Crews will be performing drilling and inspection work that will help plan the design of a new intake structure and outlet.

Traffic will be rerouted to the road below the dam. Please note that recreation areas below the dam will remain closed for safety.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 men hijacked four U.S. commercial airplanes that had taken off with full fuel tanks for the West Coast. The hijackers deliberately crashed the planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and onto a field outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The losses were devastating: A total of 2,977 people were killed in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania. On this day, we remember all those who lost their lives due to an unspeakable act of terrorism.

Monday August 18 - Friday August 22

STARTS TODAY

ARKABUTLA ROAD
will be closed between 7:00am and 5:00pm beginning Monday August 18 for multiple pipe replacements. Work should be completed by Friday, August 22, weather permitting.
The affected area will be between Doc Woody and Hidden Valley. This work is being done as part of a state aid paving overlay project.
