OFFICIAL NOTICE: SIDEWALK CLOSURE: EAST SIDE of LUNN TERRACE EFFECTIVE: Monday evening, August 31, 2026.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE of the following change in PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC PATTERNS in the area of Lunn Terrace.

BEGINNING MONDAY EVENING, 8/31/2026, a portion of the SIDEWALK ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF LUNN TERRACE will be CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

*A TEMPORARY WALKWAY WITH CROSSWALKS will be established on the WEST SIDE of Lunn Terrace.

*Both lanes of vehicular traffic will remain open but may be slowed by increased pedestrian crossings.

*Motorists are REQUIRED BY NEW YORK STATE LAW to YIELD TO PEDESTRIANS IN CROSSWALKS.

*Pedestrians and motorists should plan ahead and leave sufficient time for arrival at your destinations.

*ALTERNATIVE PEDESTRIAN ROUTES to the Lower Village include:
*The Pedestrian Tunnel/"Subway" on Main Street
*The Metro-North Railroad overpass

PLEASE NOTE: ADA PEDESTRIAN ACCESS to the riverfront and the Lower Village will be available ONLY via the elevators and overpass within the Metro-North station.

The CSPD would like to thank the Putnam County 911 Center, all involved law enforcement agencies--including the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, NYS Parks Police, NYS Police, and the search and rescue personnel from the West Point - The U.S. Military Academy and the Westchester County Police Department. Thanks, also, to Cold Spring Fire Company No. 1 and the North Highlands Engine Co # 1 for assisting with the recovery effort. The coordinated response and cooperation among all involved agencies contributed to the safe resolution of the incident.

REMINDER: HYDRANT FLUSHING THIS WEEK

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Village of Cold Spring Water + Wastewater Department will be conducting regular hydrant flushing throughout the water system through 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Flushing began in the area of Fishkill Road Monday morning and will snake through the Villages of Nelsonville and Cold Spring throughout the week, ending at the Cold Spring waterfront by Friday, weather permitting.

• Residents may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure and/or water discoloration. The reduction in pressure should return to normal once the flush is completed.

• The resulting increase in water flow can disturb iron deposits in the 100-year-old system and may cause temporary water discoloration. Residents are advised to run the cold water for a short period, until water runs clear.

• The Water Department requests that residents double-check their outside spigots prior to leaving their property for any extended period. Leaving the water running can result in damage to garden hoses and other property.

The Village of Cold Spring is seeking SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS to assist Haldane Central School District.

The pay rate is $20 per hour. Candidates must be 18 years or older to apply.

The Village has heard from several residents today that their garbage and recycling have not yet been picked up.

We have been in contact with Casella, and they will be completing a collection tomorrow, 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟮.

𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗡 + 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗙 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗞-𝗨𝗣 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥

The Village's lawn and leaf pickup will take place on 𝗧𝗛𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬, 𝗔𝗨𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝟬.

𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲: Leaves must be placed in paper bags. Brush must be bundled and tied.
• No bundles more than 5' in length
• No sticks larger than 3" in diameter
• No logs

This is the only pickup scheduled for the month of August. Residents are asked to have all bags placed curbside Wednesday evening before the morning pickup begins.

With the weekend ahead, now is a great time to gather your leaves, brush, other materials and get them ready for collection!
