At the end of July, Age Well Caregiver Support Specialists Jennifer Harbison and Lauren Hemond joined Dad Guild for a workshop focused on caring for aging loved ones. Afterward, they sat down with Dad Pod producer Dan Castrigano for a special podcast conversation.

In the episode, Jennifer and Lauren share practical guidance for starting hard conversations, recognizing signs of dementia and Alzheimer's disease, and preparing important paperwork that can help families navigate caregiving.

Listen to the full conversation at dadguild.org/podcast or wherever you get your podcasts.

Thank you to Dad Guild for inviting us to be part of the conversation!

Who helped shape you?

For Kristin Morse, Age Well's Moderate Needs Program Accountant, it's her grandfather.

“My Grandfather was one of a kind. He spent his life as a bus driver, treating every child on his bus as if they were another one of his grandkids. He loved being a part of his community. I think of him each day that I work at Age Well, and I feel lucky that I can be a part of helping other grandparents just like him”

With Grandparents Day coming up on September 13, we're celebrating the grandparents and older adults who have made a lasting impact on members of the Age Well team.

This Grandparents Day, honor or remember a grandparent, grandfriend, mentor or another older adult who made a difference in your life with a gift to Age Well.

And right now, your gift can make twice the difference. Thanks to a generous $25,000 matching gift from longtime Age Well supporters Mike and Martha Wool, every gift made through September 30 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.

Give in honor or memory of someone special, and double your impact.

Who helped shape the person you are today?

With Grandparents Day coming up on September 13, we’re thinking about the grandparents, grandfriends, and older adults whose love and support helped make us who we are.

Who is that person for you?

Honor or remember them with a gift to Age Well, and help ensure older adults in our community have access to the meals, support and connection they need.

And right now, your gift will be DOUBLED.

Every donation made through September 30 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, thanks to longtime Age Well supporters (and grandparents themselves!) Mike and Martha Wool.

Make a gift today in honor or memory of a grandparent who helped shape you, and help make a difference in the lives of older Vermonters.

Happy Labor Day!

Our offices and Helpline are closed today. We'll be back tomorrow ready to help.

🧐 Did you know? The first Labor Day in 1882 was basically a giant work strike. 10,000 workers took an unpaid day off and marched through NYC streets to show the strength of trade and labor groups...

…and yes, everyone gathered afterwards for a picnic, speeches, and even fireworks!

Labor Day soon became a tradition that quickly spread to other parts of the country.

Thank you to the Northwest Vermont Realtor Association (NVRA) for selecting Age Well as one of their fundraising recipients this year, including their 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament!

The tournament takes place September 15 at Rocky Ridge Golf Club, and there’s still time to get in the game. Team spots are still available!

Proceeds from the tournament will help support Age Well’s work alongside other local causes, making a difference right here in our community.

Thank you to NVRA and everyone participating for turning a day on the course into an opportunity to give back.

What a day at the Fair! 🎡💙

Tuesday turned out to be a beautiful day for Age Well Day at the Fair, where we welcomed 350 attendees for great food, plenty of fun, and time spent together!

🎶 A special thank you to Deuces Wild for providing the live music and getting so many people out on the dance floor to show off their moves!

We were also happy to welcome Vermont State Treasurer Mike Pieciak, who stopped by to chat with attendees and lend a hand serving meals.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special, and to our incredible sponsors:

AARP Vermont
Efficiency Vermont
Say What Hearing Health Care
Vermont Senior Medicare Patrol
The University of Vermont Cancer Center
Vermont Treasurer Mike Pieciak
Champlain Valley Exposition

And a special shoutout to our amazing volunteers and Age Well team who helped make it all happen. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Thanks for spending the day with us. We loved seeing so many smiling faces, and some pretty great dance moves, at the Champlain Valley Fair !

What does it mean to double your impact?

It means your support can go twice as far in helping older Vermonters access the services and connections they need to age with confidence.

Through September 30, every gift to Age Well will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, thanks to longtime supporters Mike and Martha Wool.

Give by September 30 and double your impact.

For example:

A $50 gift can help provide five Meals on Wheels meals.

With the match, that becomes ten meals, each bringing nutritious food and a familiar face at the door to say hello, check in, and make sure an older adult living alone is safe and doing well.

A $122 gift provides one hour of Case Management.

With the match, it becomes two hours. That means more time for a case manager to sit with an older adult who may be struggling to manage life alone, understand what they need, connect them with services, and create a plan to help them stay safe and independent in the home they know.

Please give now while your gift can be doubled.
