Several weeks ago the Vermont State Outdoor Pistol Championship was held at Ethan Allen Firing Range. We are proud to announce that one of our members, TSgt Poirier, emerged victorious and will be the next person to etch his name on the state trophy.

Additionally, TSgt Poirier won the EIC Revolver Match, and another one of our members, SFC Saffo, won the .22 EIC Match. These wins earned both individuals leg points towards those respective distinguished badges.

Neither individual was in a duty status, but showed up to shoot regardless. We applaud their dedication for wanting to become better marksmen, and congratulate both of them on a job well done. Way to represent gentlemen!

The Vermont Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition was held this weekend, and we were fortunate to have two of our Soldiers competing. SGT Hurt, who is attached to us from B Troop, 1-172 CAV and SGT Wence who is attached to us from HHC 572d BEB. Both NCO's endured a full weekend that tested everything from their physical fitness to marksmanship to warrior tasks......and everything in between. To say they earned their pay is an understatement. Congratulations SGT Hurt and SGT Wence on a job well done! We're very proud of how you performed.

The 2024 U.S. Army Small Arms Championships are in the books! Vermont sent down one team consisting of TSgt Poirier, TSgt Topper, SGT Hurt and CDT Chretien. Here are a few highlights from the week:

Our team finished 5th overall in Pistol Match 4T, 10th overall in the Pistol Team Championship, and 16th overall in the Combined Arms Team Championship.

TSgt Poirier was the overall winner of Pistol Match 221, finished 3rd overall in the Rifle Individual Championship and 5th overall in the Combined Arms Individual Championship.

TSgt Topper finished 3rd overall for non-distinguished shooters in Pistol Match 27, 2nd overall in the Open Category for the Pistol Individual Championship, and 3rd overall in the Open Category for the Combined Arms Individual Championship.

CDT Chretien was the winner in the Cadet Category for Pistol Match 3, 2nd overall in the Cadet Category for the Combined Arms Individual Championship, and earned the LTG Benjamin Freakley Trophy for having the highest aggregate in all four EIC Matches for the cadets.

We’re always proud of the way our Soldiers and Airmen represent their respective branches, individual categories, and the Vermont National Guard. Please congratulate them on a job well done!
