Capitol field trip photo dump!
Here’s our action-packed itinerary:
- informative Capitol tour with Majority Leader Rojas
- chat with Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas in her office
- visit Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz in her office
- walk across Bushnell Park to have lunch near the Old Statehouse 🥗
- visit with heads of 3 administrative departments at their building on Columbus Blvd: DAS Commissioner Michelle Gilman, Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan Cafferelli, and Education Deputy Commissioner Charles Hewes. So cool to see how the duties of executive and legislative branches are different but interconnected!
- back to the Capitol, where there were Earth Day activities and vendors from two towns were set up on the first floor.
- we chatted with two Bacon grads about what they do in politics. Thanks for taking time out for us, Corey Geisman and Kevin Alvarez!
- we got announced on the House floor by Rep. Biggins (including birthday shoutouts! 🎂), and we got to visit with Rep. DiCaprio and other Representatives who stopped by to say hi.
- we got announced on the Senate floor by Senators Needleman and Anwar and observed a Senate debate in progress.
- dinner at Parkville Market, of course. 🌮
