On Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person being threatened with a firearm at a residence on Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers located Loren Durkee, 42, of Troy, New York inside a truck behind the property. Durkee was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded Browning Arms Buck Mark .22 Long Rifle Pistol and three (3) additional loaded magazines on the individual’s person. In total, thirty-six (36) rounds of ammunition were seized along with .2 grams of Methamphetamine.
Durkee was charged with the following:
Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 2nd Degree-Possession of Deadly Weapon (Class C Felony)
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree-Loaded Firearm (Class C Felony)
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree-Previous Conviction (Class D Felony)
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree- Ammunition Feeding Device (Class D Felony)
Criminal Possession of a Firearm in the 3rd Degree-Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony)
Menacing in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class A Misdemeanor)
Four (4) Counts of Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Device (Class B Misdemeanors)
Durkee was arraigned in Cohoes City Court before the Honorable Judge Galarneau and remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

On Monday, May 25, 2026 at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Congress Street for a reported domestic disturbance involving allegations of a physical altercation and the possible presence of a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and conducted an investigation. During the investigation, Messiah Wallace, 20 of Colonie, New York was observed leaving the area and was detained. Officers subsequently located and recovered a Phoenix Arms .22 Caliber semi-automatic pistol loaded with six (6) rounds that had been discarded nearby, along with .7 grams of co***ne.
Wallace was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cohoes Police Department for processing.
Messiah Wallace was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree-Loaded Firearm (Class C Felony), Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 2nd Degree-Possession of deadly weapon (Class C Felony), Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance-Cocaine (Class D Felony), Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class E Felony).
Wallace was arraigned in Cohoes City Court before the Honorable Judge Knowles and remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bail bond, $250,000 partially secured bond.

The Cohoes Police Department would like to congratulate Detective Lieutenant Scott McKown on his retirement today after 21 years of dedicated service.
Lt. McKown began his career in 2004 as a Police Officer, was promoted to Sergeant in 2020, and earned the rank of Lieutenant in 2023. In 2024, he was appointed Supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Division, where he led with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
We thank Det. Lt. McKown for his commitment to the City of Cohoes and wish him all the best in his retirement!

On Friday, May 15, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Cohoes Police Officers conducted a routine traffic stop on NY 787 near Tibbits Avenue, during the course of the investigation the vehicles passenger Miguel A. Flores, 23, of Albany, New York was found to be in possession of a fully loaded Ta**us G2C 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
Flores and the driver Yandell Moya, 20, of Troy, New York were both taken into custody without incident. They were transported to the Cohoes Police Department for processing.
Miguel A. Flores was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree-Loaded Firearm (Class C Felony), Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 2nd Degree-possession of deadly weapon-loaded (Class C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree-ammunition feeding device (Class D Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree-previous conviction (Class D Felony), Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony) and Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices (Class B Misdemeanor).
Flores was arraigned in Cohoes City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.

Yandell Moya was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree (Uncategorized Misdemeanor) and a Muffler Exhaust System Violation and released.

On April 28, 2026, at the Annual New York State Law Enforcement Recognition Event in Albany, Officer Thomas Nolan received the Recognition of Excellence Award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), STOP DWI New York, and the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
The event honored 131 law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and agencies for their efforts to combat impaired driving during 2025. We are extremely proud of Officer Nolan and sincerely thank him for his continued dedication to keeping our roads safe.
