A Message from the Midwest Pregnancy Care Center Board
Recently, a post shared on our page regarding reproductive services offered in our community generated significant discussion and concern. As the Board of Directors, we have taken time to listen, reflect, and consider both what was communicated and how it was communicated.
We want to be clear about two things.
First, the Midwest Pregnancy Care Center remains committed to our biblical convictions. We believe in the value of every human life, the importance of sexual integrity, and Godโs design for sexuality within marriage. We will continue to provide education and support consistent with those beliefs. We do not believe that holding firmly to our convictions requires us to be silent about issues that affect women, children, and families in our community.
At the same time, how we communicate those convictions matters.
We recognize that the previous post did not communicate the compassion, grace, and care that should characterize the Midwest Pregnancy Care Center, for that, we are sorry. People should never come away from our words believing that a woman facing an unexpected pregnancy, a teenager who has made choices we would not encourage, or anyone whose beliefs differ from ours would be treated with contempt or condemnation at our center.
That is not who we desire to be.
We also want to clarify that our concern was with particular reproductive services and the philosophy surrounding them. It was never our intention to criticize efforts to provide necessities such as menstrual products or other practical assistance to people in need. We are grateful whenever genuine needs in our community are met.
Our mission is not simply to oppose something. We want to offer something. We want women and families to know that there is a place where they can receive practical assistance, education, encouragement, and compassionate support. Our services are provided without regard to whether a client shares our Christian beliefs, and every person who enters our center deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
We will continue to stand for life. We will continue to teach what we believe. And we will work harder to make certain that the way we communicate those beliefs reflects the same love and compassion we seek to show the people we serve.
We appreciate those who expressed their concerns, as well as those who continue to support and pray for this ministry. We are listening, learning, and committed to serving our community faithfully.
