GENERAL LABORER
The City of Coffeen is seeking a skilled, reliable general laborer in a full-time position. The responsibilities include the ability to operate various machinery, conduct various testing, and recording information for our water and sewer system. All health and safety regulations must be followed. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential. Must be able to work independently and must be willing to work after hours as needed.
General Laborer Duties and Responsibilities
• Patching of roads and assisting during road repair operations
• Operation of backhoe while assisting with water and sewer repairs and installations
• Operation of dump truck (with snow plow in winter season)
• Mowing of city property using a commercial mower
• Perform monthly water meter readings
• Must effectively operate various power tools for repairs and construction of city facilities and equipment
• Must complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Must clean and clear debris and hazardous material as required
• Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained, cleaned, and stored properly
• Other duties as assigned
General Laborer Requirements and Qualifications
• High School Diploma with minimum of two years of work experience as a laborer
• Must have a working cell phone
• Must be over 18 years old
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 100 pounds
• Ability to climb tall ladders and working at elevated levels
• Be willing to work outside of normal work hours, as required
• Must have a professional outlook and work ethic
• Able to work independently or as an active team member
• Excellent people skills and be able to communicate with both city leadership and the local community
• Must pass drug screening and background check prior to employment
