Governor Brad Little officially proclaimed Lakes Appreciation Month (July) in Idaho! Idaho is home to thousands of lakes that define our state's landscape, support vibrant communities, and offer opportunities for recreation and connection with nature. What's your favorite Idaho lake?👀

All through the year, we can all show our appreciation for lakes by protecting our vital water resources. Simple actions like moderating water use, limiting use of lawn and garden chemicals, and properly disposing of waste, medications, and hazardous materials helps safeguard the clean water that sustains our communities.

Tis the season - the City of Coeur d'Alene's Fall Leaf Fest starts up November 13th. Don't forget to get your leaves out if you live in Coeur d'Alene. Not only does this save you some hauling - it also helps protect water quality in Coeur D'Alene Lake! Here are some guidelines from the City of Coeur d'Alene's website:

Pick-up will start south of Sherman Avenue and move north.
Leaves will be picked up only once, so mark your calendars!

Do ...

Start putting leaves/needles out after Wednesday, November 1st.

Keep the leaves about one foot away from the curb line to allow for water flow.

Please move vehicles off of the street during leaf pick-up.

Be alert for leaf pick-up equipment traveling through your neighborhood.

Keep a safe distance away from leaf pick-up equipment.

Please Do NOT...

Place bagged leaves in the street.

Mix branches, garden debris, grass clippings or other trash in with leaves.

Miss the deadline... we only have time for one pass.

Follow our progress on-line at: https://maps.cdaid.org/leaf/

Sweepers will follow City trucks to collect remaining/excess leaves.

If you have questions or need additional information, please check streets.cdaid.org or call the Streets and Engineering Department at 208-769-2235.

TWIN FALLS — "Stay away from the Snake River" is the warning multiple agencies are shouting from the rooftops.

09/21/2023

‼️The presence of quagga mussel larvae has been confirmed in the Snake River.‼️This invasive species can quickly spread and clog pipes that deliver water for drinking, energy, agriculture, recreation, and a variety of other uses. They can also kill off fish and other aquatic wildlife. Here is what you can do to help:

👉🏻If your watercraft (including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, boats, and others) has been on the Snake River in the Centennial Park area of Twin Falls in the past 30 days, please take it to an Idaho State Department of Agriculture hot wash station in Twin Falls for proper treatment. DO NOT attempt to decontaminate watercraft yourself.

👉🏻All boat ramps and public access to the water in the Centennial Park area are closed until further notice as the investigation in the area continues. The public’s cooperation in staying out of the impacted area is crucial to the success of ISDA’s efforts.

👉🏻Anyone who owns a watercraft must be vigilant in practicing the steps of CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY.
