Our administrative office has already received a few calls asking where the smoke is coming from, so we wanted to share a quick update.

There are numerous large wildfires burning in Canada, and the Turner Hill Fire near Bonners Ferry is also contributing smoke to our region. Depending on wind direction and weather conditions, smoke can travel long distances, so what you're seeing or smelling may not be from a fire in our immediate area.

If you're curious about where the smoke is coming from, we highly recommend downloading the Watch Duty app. It provides near real-time information on active wildfires, fire perimeters, smoke conditions, and evacuation alerts, making it easy to see what's happening around our region.

If you see a new or localized smoke column, visible flames, or believe a fire has just started, please report it immediately by calling 911.
