Happy Thanksgiving! It's been a minute since I've posted an update, so I wanted to take the time to say thank you. On this day, I give thanks for all the opportunities that have been afforded to me through the many endeavors I have undertaken. Above all, I am thankful to God for giving me such a blessed life with a beautiful family.

This fall I was able to take the boys out with me for corn harvest. The harvest is a special time to remember all of the hard work that was accomplished during the year.

Pray for our farmers and remember them on this day of thanks. ❤️

Where has the summer gone?? With all of this rain and cool down, it's now time to call off the water for lawns and start thinking about blowing out your lines. Spots are limited this year, so get on the list! I am covering Ontario, Fruitland, Payette, Weiser, and New Plymouth this year. I'll text last year's customers on the list that I created last fall.

If you don't hear from me by Oct 8th and I blew you out last year, please reach out; blowout season is crazy and I get upwards of 100 calls/texts PER DAY.

At least 30% of this landfill is food waste/kitchen scraps. When this gets buried, it creates methane gas through anaerobic bacteria and is released into the air as a greenhouse gas.

Instead of being let out into the atmosphere, this gas process can be controlled and can be used to create heat, cook food, and create electricity!⚡️

Today I'm announcing for Saturday, MARCH 8th only, I'm initiating a pay-what-you-can lawn aerating service, so first come, first serve! I will aerate your lawn at your neighborhood house, both front and back. I understand that times are tough, but that doesn't mean we all can't all have a nice place for our kids/pets/US to run around, especially with soccer season around the corner. ⚽

Aerating opens up the soil, allowing it to breathe, so when you apply spring fertilizer, your grass explodes out of the ground! 💥

🌱I've been building this week to launch pricing for the composting service in April.🌱

Price: $20/month OR
$5/bucket pickup

Your monthly $20 subscription gets you weekly pickup (4) OR if you need one every once in a while, the $5 option works just as well!

🌎🌎For just the price of a couple of large coffees, you can help save food waste from going into landfills and SAVE THE PLANET!🌎🌎

How does it work?

You can either buy a $10, 5 gallon bucket from me with lid that has the logo on it OR you can provide your own 5 gallon bucket that you don't mind getting recirculated with others that gets a logo on it. For those that don't need a full 5 gallon bucket, there is also a 2.5 gallon bucket option as well. The lid keeps the smell down if its stinky, and keeps animals out.

OK, I have a bucket, now what?👏

Put all of your extra scraps (vegetable, fruit, coffee grinds, oil, egg shells, old fridge food, scrape your plate in it instead of the trash) in your bucket. Put it out on Monday so I can swap it for a new one. Repeat! This is a NO RULES compost, meaning you can put in literally ANYTHING that is eaten for food, or that comes off of food, or used in food.

No plastic!
No paper!
No yard waste!

I have plans for all of those, but I'm not ready yet to receive them... yet!

🎯The point is to get the food waste to the right place, either my bucket or yours. 🎯

I'm excited to get this program going starting April 1st to Ontario residents, pick up on Mondays!

These photos are part of garden growing season 2021. In this section, I experimented with food scraps directly on broccoli 🥦 and lettuce to see if there was an impact on taste, fruit quality, and yield. L is in the second photo. He loved broccoli back then and still does today! You might also spy food grinded grass clippings and putting them at the base of the lettuce and broccoli.

Food waste fertilizer ended up yielding THE SAME as a commercial garden fertilizer. 🤯No change on fruit quality or taste.

How is that possible?

Using food scraps in the garden also brings carbon into the soil, something that commercial fertilizers do not typically have. It's helps act as a sponge to retain nutrients, vs. leach them out when they are not attached to a carbon source.

***Introducing***

🌱🌎food waste grinder 🌱🌎

I devised this creation over 5 years ago. This is a portable compost food grinder! I attached a bucket on top of a garbage disposal, and it works exactly how your kitchen disposal would.

You add a little bit of water to get the food down and out the spout.

Water is the *secret* to non-smelly compost.

I ran this gadget for 2 years, adding only food waste from our kitchen. I ran experiments on peppers and tomatoes, looking at yield and fruit quality.

🌱🌿🌎Business Announcement🌱🌿🌎

With pleasure, I am excited to announce the next chapter in this company- composting! From the beginning of starting TSD, I wanted this to be why; the reason for starting a company with soil in it, however the business model is high volume low margin and I didn't have the space or opportunity to start this journey- until now.

What is the purpose of composting?

It's food waste recycling of the highest form, the ability to give the soil back what it has given, in a readily usable form that impacts ALL of us.

Over the years I have developed a method to quickly compost food scraps (7 days or less!), oils, and any organic materials, with NO SMELL! 😍

The program will be launching April 1st to Ontario residential customers with potential to go to small businesses in the near future.

Why is this important? About 35% of "trash" going to the landfill is food waste (about 1.3 billion lbs globally per year, but probably more). Burying the waste creates methane, a greenhouse gas that can be utilized in such a greater way than currently being released to the atmosphere- more on that later. Not only that, the impact the food waste can have in our local agro-ecology (farming and gardens) is MASSIVE.

Pricing will be announced later this week, along with logistics, how it will run, when will I collect, what the process is, what the final product looks like, usability, etc.

This is my passion. I have never been more excited to continue this vision to help this community utilize "trash to treasure" and have a lasting impact.

Tired of growing average crops? Soil sampling and tissue sampling are essential to getting your ideal yield! Whether lawn, garden, or commercial farm, it is necessary understand where you are coming from to see where you need to go!

If you don't have a baseline of what your soil is made of, then it makes it that much harder to know what to add to grow your soil.

Price: $60 for 1 complete soil analysis, which includes a sitdown with me to talk about what all the numbers mean. Prices vary; if you need larger areas done such as grid sampling, we can talk about your needs.
