American Red Cross Lifeguard Course *Course Description
To teach lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.

The course content and activities prepares candidates to prevent drowning and injuries and to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

*Pre-requisites for the Course
Before being allowed to take to the lifeguarding course each potential candidate must be at least 15 years old. Each candidate must also be able to swim 100 meters of freestyle, 100 meters of breaststroke, and be

able to swim one lap with a 10 pound weight.

*Course Scheduling
The Lifeguarding Course will be 4 days long. The following are the dates and times for the course…
-Friday, July 8 9am-4pm

-Saturday, July 9 9am-4pm

-Sunday, July 10 9am-4pm

-Saturday, July 16 9am-4pm

Every student must come to every class and be on time. Also please note that for each day of the course students may be released early. For each day of the course all students must bring:
-bathing suit -towel -goggles -sunscreen -change of clothes
-lifeguard book and CPR mask (which will be given to each student the first day of class)

Students will have 45 minutes to eat lunch and can either bring their lunch or they may leave the property to do so but all students must be back on time.

*Costs
The entire lifeguarding course will be a total of $200 per person, and a $100 of that total must be given as a deposit no later then Friday July 1st 2011. The deposit is needed to guarantee your place in the course. Also note that this course being offered is the cheapest around, with the average course costing at least $250-$300.

*******How to Sign Up for the Course**********
To sign up for the course you must bring a $100 deposit to the Township Aquatic Center, the address is listed above. Please call Jacqueline Skelley at (954) 696-0146 before making a deposit. If your deposit is cash then a receipt will be given to you. If your deposit is a check then please make all checks out to Jacqueline Skelley. Please note that your deposit is nonrefundable! The remaining $100 owed of the $200 fee can either be given at the time of deposit or on the first day of class. If there are any questions please call or email Jacqueline Skelley
