🚨 CO***NE HAUL STOPPED IN ITS TRACKS 🚨

A sharp-nosed K-9 and proactive interdiction work led to the seizure of 122 pounds of co***ne on Interstate 5 near San Clemente, California.

During highway enforcement operations, a California Highway Patrol K-9 alerted to a vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered multiple bundles of co***ne concealed inside the trunk.

The narcotics were seized, and the driver now faces multiple state drug charges.

Another reminder that K-9 teams remain one of law enforcement’s most effective tools in the fight against drug trafficking. 🐕💪

🐾The Space Coast Police K-9 Foundation is proud to support Cocoa Police Department K-9 Draco with the donation of a new Impact K9 crate.

While Draco spends his days helping keep our community safe, this crate provides him with a secure and comfortable place to rest when he’s off duty at home. For working dogs, a properly designed crate is more than just a kennel—it’s a safe space that promotes calm behavior, reduces stress, and helps protect them when their handler is away.

Police K-9s dedicate countless hours to training and service. Ensuring they have the equipment and resources they need both on and off duty is an important part of our mission.

A special thank you to our donors and supporters who make contributions like this possible. Because of you, we’re able to continue investing in the health, safety, and well-being of law enforcement K-9s throughout our community.

A Safe Place for a Hard-Working Partner! Enjoy your new home setup, Draco! 💙🐕

Armed Felon Charged after Allegedly Shooting Fort Lauderdale Police K-9

Friday, May 29, 2026

U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida

MIAMI – A grand jury returned an indictment Thursday charging a Fort Lauderdale man with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after allegedly firing at a police K-9 during a pursuit in Fort Lauderdale.

According to court records, on April 18, law enforcement responded to a residential burglary in which a firearm had been stolen. Officers established a perimeter and, with assistance from aviation and K-9 units, located Christian Bouie, 30, of Fort Lauderdale, hiding in a tree in a nearby yard. When ordered to come down, Bouie fled, scaled a fence, and ran into an adjacent property.

As a police K-9 pursued him, Bouie allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired two rounds at the dog, striking the dog. Bouie continued fleeing before officers ultimately apprehended him. After taking Bouie into custody, officers recovered a firearm from his pocket.

“Police K-9s protect our officers, our neighborhoods, and our families,” said U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida. “This indictment alleges that a convicted felon unlawfully possessed a firearm and fired at a police K-9 during a pursuit in Fort Lauderdale. When armed felons allegedly endanger law enforcement and the public, our Office will prosecute those cases to the fullest extent of federal law.”

Bouie has prior felony convictions, including a conviction for robbery with a firearm, and is prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal law.

If convicted, Bouie faces up to 15 years in federal prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Reding Quiñones and Special Agent in Charge Jason Stankiewicz of the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms, and Explosives (ATF), Miami Field Division, made the announcement.

ATF Miami Field Division is investigating the case, with assistance from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Ustynoski is prosecuting the case.

Our hearts are with you LakelandPD

Rest in Peace, K-9 Pantera “Ace” — We’re Going to Miss You, Buddy 💙🐾

Our hearts were broken yesterday as we said goodbye to K-9 Pantera “Ace,” a faithful partner, protector, and beloved member of the Lakeland Police Department family.

Ace recently suffered an unexpected medical event, and despite the best efforts of medical professionals, his health declined rapidly. We are grateful to the the incredible team at New Life Veterinary Hospital who cared for him with compassion during his final days.

Raised by Officer Vanderpool from a puppy, Ace’s journey began in sport and competition before he answered the call to serve his community. In June 2022, Officer Vanderpool and Ace officially became a Lakeland Police K-9 team, forging a partnership built on loyalty and trust.

During his distinguished service, Ace completed 54 narcotics deployments, leading to 31 seizures and 19 drug arrests. On patrol, he responded to 375 calls for service, contributing to 138 arrests and 6 apprehensions. His work helped make our community safer, and his impact will never be forgotten.

Together, Officer Vanderpool and Ace earned recognition in United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) competition, placing 3rd overall, and were preparing to proudly represent Region 1 at the USPCA Nationals. This duo was also recognized by the National USPCA and bestowed the local President’s Roundtable award for locating a missing child.

But beyond the accolades and statistics was a partnership few can truly understand, the unbreakable bond between a K-9 officer and his partner. Officer Vanderpool and K9 Ace stood together through every challenge, every call, and every victory.

Officer Vanderpool, although Ace’s watch has ended, his courage, loyalty, and devotion to duty will live on forever.

K-9 Ace… your streets are secure. Your work here is complete. You have answered your final call. End of Watch: May 26, 2026.

Rest easy, Ace. You will forever remain in our hearts. Have fun at the bridge with your former teammates. We’ll take it from here.
