For the past 30+ years, the Ecuadent Foundation has taken surgeons, dentists, and medical professionals to the country of Ecuador to provide high-quality, free medical and dental care to impoverished children.
However, in these unprecedented times our mission has shifted to focus on the Covid-19 crisis.
We are partnering with the Ecuadorian Consulate in Washington, D.C., the Ecuadorian Armed Forces, the Maryland Office of the Secretary of State, Maryland’s Sister State Program, the Healing Hands Foundation, businesses, and community leaders to assist our neighbor in their time of crisis.
Today, our Latin American ally is an epicenter
of Covid-19 in the region. To date, nearly 3,000 people have died, many of whom were unable
to access the nation’s overwhelmed, hospitals
and health clinics.
More than a month after Ecuador’s largest city, Guayaquil, was overwhelmed by the
pandemic, the virus continues to spread,
and the fatality rate is increasing. Compounding the crisis, Ecuador’s dollar-based economy
is heavily dependent on petroleum exports and the crash in global oil prices has dealt a catastrophic blow to the nation’s finances.
Our goal is to send 20 tons of medical supplies, PPE, food, and cleaning supplies to help
relieve the suffering in Ecuador. We need your help to accomplish this goal.
The list of desperately needed supplies includes PPE (N95 and KN95 respirators, Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 surgical masks, exam and surgical gloves, dishwashing gloves, disposable and reusable surgical gowns, face shields), non-perishable food, and
cleaning supplies (Clorox wipes, PDCare
disinfectants, liquid bleach).
