When minutes matter, Baltimore County firefighters warn the county can no longer guarantee a rapid response.

A strong step forward for firefighter and public safety in Baltimore County.

For more than 15 years, Line-of-Duty Death reports, Near Miss investigations, after-action reviews, and an independent 3rd party study have pointed to one critical need: increased Chief Officer staffing.

We are proud to see that recommendation delivered with the restoration of additional battalions, adding 12 new Battalion Chiefs.

This investment delivers, more effective Chief level:
- Communication
- Accountability
- Incident Command

Most importantly, it directly enhances the safety of our members and strengthens the service we provide to our community.

This achievement reflects meaningful collaboration with Baltimore County Government and County Executive Katherine Klausmeier working together to align resources with the realities of today’s fire and EMS demand.

And as it turns out…sometimes you can get done what they say can’t be done.

Reach out to your politicians!

A federal funding lapse has forced the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial to close just weeks before hundreds of families are expected to gather to honor loved ones who died in the line of duty.

The memorial, located on the campus of the National Emergency Training Center, is currently closed to the public because of the funding disruption affecting the Department of Homeland Security, according to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

In a statement, foundation CEO Victor Stagnaro said the timing is especially painful as families prepare for the annual Memorial Weekend, when new names are added to the monument.

Proud to see Senate Bill 445 across the finish line in the Maryland General Assembly. 🚒

This is a huge win for firefighters across our state — and it didn’t happen by chance. The Professional Fire Fighters of Maryland drove this effort every step of the way.

This legislation reflects a clear and fair standard:

• Fire Fighters will receive overtime after working a 42-hour work week
• Ensures fair overtime based on the 168-hour / 28-day schedule
• Requires clear, transparent pay and accountability

Fair pay for fair work — that’s what this legislation delivers. Now it moves to Governor Wes Moore for his final signature!

Hey everyone, Local 1311 is getting involved with GBMC's Walk a Mile in their Shoes!

The walk is at GBMC South Chapman on April 17th 4pm. Please consider joining our team to walk a mile, or at least make a donation. 😁

https://pro.gofundme.com/fundraiser/7154493

This is a popular event across the country that brings the community together to walk in solidarity with the victims and survivors of sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence and human trafficking. The walk benefits the GBMC Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE), Domestic Violence (DV) & Child Protection (CPP) Program, which provides confidential services to victims of all ages, at no cost to the patient. Additionally, the program provides comfort and counseling to re-empower patients.

To be determined....
