Please join us in a massive congratulations to Chief Jeff Trawick for celebrating 30 incredible years with the City of Cochran.

Last night, Chief Trawick was recognized at the City Council meeting for his three decades of unwavering dedication and leadership. We want to extend a special thank you to City Manager Angela Redding for presenting the Chief with his official 30-year service plaque and for her kind words of support.

While he has spent the last 30 years protecting and serving our community, he isn't hanging up the badge just yet! Chief Trawick is continuing his service to keep our city moving forward! If you know him, you know he is not one to sit still for long. When he isn’t leading our agency, you can usually find him out on the open road riding his motorcycle, working out on the farm, or tending to his beloved chickens. 🐔🏍️🌾

Thank you, Chief, for your tireless dedication, sacrifice, and for making Cochran a safer, better place to live. We are honored to serve alongside you!

Today, Chief came around to the front office to surprise our Chief Clerk, Saige Cruz, and Deputy Clerk, Kat Helms, with beautiful fresh flowers to say a massive "THANK YOU." 💐

We truly appreciate all the hard work, organization, and late hours you both put in to keep our operations running seamlessly here in Cochran.

Whether they are managing records, greeting you at the front desk, answering the phones, or keeping the Chief organized (let’s be honest.. patrol too! 😅), we couldn't do what we do without them.

Yes, our phones and internet are officially working again! We survived the dark ages, but we do need to make a quick confession: we had to actually talk to each other face-to-face for a few hours!

Jokes aside, our admin line number is working again at 478-934-4282. 📞

Welp. Our internet and phone lines are still down, but we are fully on the case! Please do not try sending smoke signals, we are terrible at reading them, and the typewriters are causing quite a ruckus in the breakroom.

Here is how to reach us during the outage:

🚨 Emergencies: Continue to dial 9-1-1. It routes directly through dispatch!

🚔 Non-Emergencies: If you need an officer for a non-urgent matter or to file a report, flag down a patrol vehicle or call the non-emergency line at 478-934-6282.

Please avoid calling the station's administrative lines right now. We currently have officers stationed by a telegraph, furiously tapping out Morse code, and our typing pool is working overtime.

We will post an update here on our Police Department page the second our modern technology returns.

🚨 OFFICIAL UPDATE: We’ve Gone Retro! 🚨

Well, folks, it appears our phone lines and internet have officially packed their bags and gone on an unscheduled vacation. We have absolutely no idea when they’ll be checking back in to work.

What this means for you:
☎️ Calling us? Our admin lines are playing the silent treatment.
🛑 Reporting a crime? If it’s an emergency, please dial 9-1-1 immediately.
🚔 Are we still working? Yes! Our officers are still out on the streets, doing the police stuff. We just lost the ability to Google "how to fix a server cable."

Yes, we tried unplugging everything, blowing on the cords, and plugging them back in. If our router refuses to cooperate and our internet stays down, we are fully prepared to write a citation for loitering and failure to connect. We will also be providing the router, modem, and associated cables with a mandatory court date to explain their lack of productivity to a judge.

Please do not comment on this post to report crimes or ask for a callback, as we cannot monitor these messages in real-time. If you have a non-emergency that requires an officer to be dispatched, please flag down a patrolling unit or dial 478-934-6282.

These lonely little FED EX packages were found wandering the streets of the corner of 9th/E D***s without its human. They are currently being held at the station, and while our officers have offered it coffee and a donut, they really just want to go home. If you’re the one currently refreshing your tracking page every 30 seconds wondering where your delivery went, we might have it!

Earlier today, Captain Leopard had the opportunity to teach some of our local seniors about the most common scams that focus their efforts on that portion of the population. According to the FBI, millions of senior adults are defrauded annually to the tune of over $3 Billion. The Cochran Police Department is committed to protecting our community, both physically and virtually. Classes like this help protect our seniors from scammers by giving them ways to identify the scam and how to stop and report it. If you feel like someone is trying to scam you or someone you know, don’t wait until it’s too late to notify law enforcement.
