City of Coatesville Police Department

City of Coatesville Police Department The purpose of this page is to inform residents matters of public interest. Do not report crime.

The Patrol Division is supervised by the Patrol Sergeant and is comprised of five corporals, and nineteen police officers who serve as the first line of defense. Officers are assigned to one of three patrol sectors, during their tour of duty, that divide the City, and are responsible for proactive intervention and enforcement as well as community policing. In addition, several officers serve on ot

her specialized units such as the Chester County Municipal Drug Task Force, Major Incident Response Team, and the Western Chester County Emergency Response Team. The Detective Division is comprised of one Detective Sergeant, five detectives, and one patrol officer that serves a four month apprenticeship under the detective rotation program. This division is a specialized unit with the responsibility of handling those investigations that require special expertise. Members of this division are promoted from the ranks of the patrol division and receive extensive training in criminal investigations, evidence recovery, interviews and interrogations. Detectives are subject to be called in for duty 24 hours a day and required to perform after hours, on call duty on a seven day rotating schedule. Narcotic Enforcement involves the efforts of all police officers on a regular basis, including several highly trained detectives who specialize in narcotics investigations, who work diligently with local, state and federal agencies to control and cease any drug activity within the City. The main focus is on individuals involved in the sale, distribution, and use of illegal narcotics and to prevent the illegal use and distribution within the community through proactive enforcement and public awareness. Through collaborations with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Chester County District Attorney’s office, our Detectives work closely with these agencies to disrupt and defuse drug activity, prosecute drug dealers, and to gather crime related intelligence across Chester County.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting some families that are participating in Chester County Connect Care programming. After a tour of the station, Officer Diego Guerrero-Lopez spent time having valuable conversation during a Q&A session. We appreciated the opportunity and look forward to ongoing collaboration.

It's always nice to have others extend their gratitude to our officers for the work they do. This morning, we were treated with coffee and breakfast items by Episcopal Church of the Trinity. We thank them for their thoughtfulness and will be sure to enjoy what they provided.

It was an exciting day yesterday. We had the pleasure of leading the Freedom Parade from N. 6th & Merchant, down N. 8th to E. Chestnut St...Ending at Palmer Park for a community Fair. Along the route, historic buildings were highlighted and attendees and participants were able to see how they impacted Coatesville's past, present and future. We acknowledge the many volunteers, Chester County NAACP - Coatesville and Coatesville Parks and Recreation Commission for organizing the parade and community activities. We we were grateful for the opportunity to help plan and participate.

The participants of Tabernacle Coatesville's Summer STEM Program graduated yesterday and we were grateful for the opportunity to join the festivities. We had a chance to acknowledge the mentors and celebrate the youth. We also saw them show off some of what they learned, including science experiments and robotics. Well done, kids!

Noah was 'caught' doing something right and 'ticketed' today. Some (not so) confidential informants shared that Noah had a remarkable school year and is now involved in pro-social summer programming. Throughout the year, Noah maintained exceptional grades, was respectful to his teacher and was a thoughtful friend and classmate. Now, he is continuing to make good use of time. For his efforts, the issued 'tickets' are for an upcoming Reading Fightin Phils game.

Keep doing great things, Noah! We hope that you enjoy the game.

Justice was 'caught' doing something right and 'ticketed' by Officer Thorburn and Officer Moyer. He was observed handling a challenging situation with maturity beyond his years. Thanks to the generosity of David's Drive, the 'ticket' that Justice received was a new bicycle!

Well done, Justice. We enjoyed 'catching' you today. We wish you many happy and safe bike rides and encourage you to continue to handle difficult circumstances in an appropriate manner. It's kids like you that make Coatesville an even better place to live, work and play.
