On Friday April 10th at around 9:50pm, the Clyde Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid for the reported working house fire in the Town of Rose. Engine 48 (Lt. DiSanto) was on the road 1 minute after dispatch with a full crew. Rescue 2 (Deputy Chief Tavano Jr.), E44 (Chief Lee), Quint 3(FF Mills) and Engine 902 (Assistant Chief Haig) also were on the way within a very short period of time. Engine 48 arrived first due and found a working residential structure fire with heavy involvement in the back of the residence. Engine 48’s crew (Capt. Rice and Lt. DiSanto) was able to stretch an attack line and was able to quickly get water on the fire to attempt to contain the fire as all the other responding units arrived and began to assist. Very shortly after FF’s from Clyde began an aggressive interior attack. However, due to fire progression and building condition, Rose command 17-1 called for all interior firefighters to exit the building and transition into defensive fire fighting tactics. Crews utilized our Quint aerial master stream, deck gun master streams, and multiple hand-lines to battle the fire. Crews operated alongside many other departments for several hours. CFD is happy to work alongside and assist our neighboring departments whenever possible.
