With the rise in the number of reported cases of Rabies in Curry County, be sure you are on the alert for any signs of the infection. The New Mexico Department of Health recently reported an increase in rabies-positive animals in our area. Keep a close eye on your pets and livestock, and watch out for wildlife displaying any of these warning signs:
馃惥 Unusual Behavior: Wild animals acting tame, or normally friendly pets becoming suddenly aggressive.
馃惥 Daytime Wandering: Nocturnal animals (like skunks) out and about during the day.
馃惥 Physical Distress: Staggering, stumbling, excessive drooling, or difficulty swallowing.
Protect your furry family members! Ensure all dogs and cats are up to date on their rabies vaccinations. If you see a sick wild animal or suspect an animal might be rabid, do NOT approach it. Please contact Clovis Animal Control immediately at 575-769-7893.
