HOMEOWNER ELECTRICAL EXAM

While it is an option in NM that a homeowner can take an electrical homeowners test it may not be the most beneficial option. You still have to obtain a permit, that permit is only good for 180 days, submit an electrical plan and obtain approval, and can only work on your own home after successfully passing the test and obtaining all the required permitting. That means you must be the owner of the home and/or property, you do not get a license of any kind and shall pass all required inspections.

Meet the Environmental Response Team or ERT for short. From Left to right: Jonas Caudill, David Fitzgerald and (Crew Lead) Lorissa Lopez.

What is ERT? ERT is a three person crew that is responsible for the abatement of properties where the owners have failed to comply with notices of violations of city ordinances. These abatements are from overgrowth in yards to the removal of non outdoor items and furniture.

Along with their everyday tasks, ERT is also responsible for covering up or the removal of graffiti and securing abandoned/blight properties under IPMC standards.
