Our great community organizations and churches are working with our County Red Cross Coordinator and the Emergency Management Agency to volunteer their spaces as Warming Centers. A Warming Center is a temporary facility that is made available during extreme cold temperature conditions and to be used when normal coping mechanisms in the home are ineffective or unavailable, especially for vulnerable populations.
These locations will open in the event of prolonged power outages. Some may open even if the power is still on.
These locations have the right to set hours of operations or other restrictions and may not be open 24hrs a day.
Centers MAY also provide public information, charging stations for electronic devices, and power outlets for medical equipment.
We encourage residents that may need these centers to contact the center for updated hours and any restrictions.
