🔥 BURN BAN LIFTED — PLEASE CONTINUE TO BURN RESPONSIBLY 🔥

The State of New Mexico has lifted the current burn ban. While this means controlled burning may resume, extreme caution should still be exercised when conducting any type of burn.

Before burning, please make sure conditions are safe and that you are prepared to keep your fire under control. Weather conditions, wind, dry vegetation, and changing conditions can cause a controlled burn to quickly become difficult to manage.

Please remember to:
• Check current weather and wind conditions before burning.
• Have water and firefighting tools readily available.
• Never leave a fire unattended.
• Keep burn areas clear of surrounding vegetation and combustible materials.
• Make sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area.
• Follow all applicable local and state regulations and permitting requirements.

🔥 The burn ban may be lifted, but fire safety should always remain a priority.

Otero County Emergency Services encourages everyone to use caution and help prevent an otherwise controlled burn from becoming a wildfire.
