🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Sarah Falardeau, Class of 2021.

After graduating from Clio High School in 2021, Sarah Falardeau attended Loyola University Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising & Public Relations in 2024, along with a minor in Management and a focus in Human Resources. Shortly after graduation, she began her career at CDW in Human Resources as a Talent Strategist and Recruitment Coordinator before transitioning into her current role as an Event Coordinator within the company’s Marketing division. Today, Sarah organizes and executes technology trade shows while working closely with sales stakeholders across the business.

Looking ahead, Sarah hopes to move into a role focused on coworker and leadership development, helping individuals grow professionally and become effective leaders within their organizations. She is also passionate about sharing her experiences and is always happy to connect with current and former students interested in learning more about college and the corporate world.

Sarah currently lives in Chicago just steps away from Wrigley Field, where she enjoys hearing Cubs games and concerts from her back deck. In addition to her professional career, she occasionally performs the National Anthem at Loyola University and Northwestern University sporting events. While she loves city life, she admits that quick trips home to Clio are always bittersweet.

When reflecting on her time at Clio High School, Sarah credits former teacher Tyler Thompson as a major influence on her decision to pursue a career in business and marketing. She says the skills she learned through Marketing, Marketing Management, and DECA continue to benefit her every day. Some of her favorite high school memories include working with Sasha Wakefield in Student Council to plan events such as Homecoming, Snowcoming, and Prom, as well as winning a tennis district championship during her senior year.

Sarah’s advice to current students is simple: “No dream is too big or too small, and success is not linear. Everyone’s path looks different. Whether you’re pursuing the trades, a college degree, or still figuring things out, give yourself grace. You have more time than you think to discover who you are and what you want your future to be.”

🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Cassidy Crompton, Class of 2019.

Cassidy Crompton graduated from Clio High School in 2019 before attending Central Michigan University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2023. She later earned her Master of Education in Literacy from the American College of Education in 2026. Cassidy has spent the past three years teaching at the elementary level, including two years in second grade and completing her third year teaching first grade. In 2025, she was nominated for both the CAEF Teacher of the Year Award and the Voices for Children Advocacy Center Caring Adult Award. She is passionate about creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment where students can grow both academically and personally.

Looking back on her time at Clio High School, Cassidy appreciates the knowledge and experiences she gained throughout her years as a student. Some of her favorite high school memories include attending DECA Internationals in Orlando, Florida, and participating in activities and events in Spanish 3 with Señora Yue. She credits her teachers and coaches for having a lasting impact on her life and personal growth. Her advice to current high school students is to put themselves out there, even when it feels uncomfortable, because growth often happens outside of one’s comfort zone.

Outside of the classroom, Cassidy enjoys volunteering at Genesee County Animal Control, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors.

This Memorial Day, Clio Area Schools honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. 🇺🇸

As we enjoy time with family and friends, we pause to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives to protect our freedoms. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

We would like to give a special shout-out to several senior students who generously volunteered their time to help decorate Clio Area Schools Preschool/Clio Early Elementary for their end-of-year celebration yesterday! After completing their high school classes, Lylia, EJ, Tristan, and Emma dedicated their time and creativity to organizing, brainstorming, and creating decorations for our “Blooming” theme. Their hard work and artistic talents truly shined through, adding beautiful and meaningful touches to the celebration. We are so grateful for their willingness to share their time and talents to help make this event extra special for our youngest learners!

Clio Area Schools is excited to spotlight Sasha Wakefield in her new role as 6–12 Math Coach!

Sasha will be working closely with staff and students to help strengthen math instruction and support student achievement across the secondary level. Through collaboration, intervention support, and research-based strategies, she will play an important role in helping students continue to grow and succeed in mathematics.

We are excited to see the impact Sasha will make in this new position and look forward to all she will bring to the role.

In this position, Michelle will support elementary students and staff by helping strengthen math instruction, supporting intervention efforts, and promoting student growth and confidence in mathematics. She will also collaborate closely with teachers and families to help ensure students have the support and strategies they need to succeed.

We are excited to see Michelle step into this role and continue making a positive impact across our district. Congratulations, Michelle!

Clio Area Schools is excited to spotlight Kim Sather in her new role as 4/5 Literacy Coach!

In this position, Kim will support evidence-based literacy instruction, collaborate with teachers and families, and help strengthen reading success for all learners at the intermediate level. Her work will focus on structured literacy practices, intervention support, and helping students continue to grow as confident readers.

We are excited for the positive impact Kim will make in this important role. Congratulations, Kim!

Karen will be supporting students and staff by helping strengthen literacy instruction, supporting intervention efforts, and promoting reading growth for learners in grades 2–3. She will work closely with teachers and families to help provide students with the support and strategies needed to continue building strong literacy skills and confidence.

We are excited for Karen as she begins this new opportunity and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make throughout our district. Congratulations, Karen!
