Clio Area Fire Authority Responds to Large Commercial Structure Fire in Vienna Township

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Clio Area Fire Authority was dispatched to the 11000 block of North Saginaw Road for a reported commercial structure fire in Vienna Township.

Initial information from Genesee County 911 reported smoke and flames coming from a commercial building measuring approximately 100 feet by 160 feet. All occupants had safely evacuated the building prior to the arrival of emergency crews.

Due to the size of the building and the reported fire conditions, the incident was upgraded to a second box alarm, bringing additional firefighters and equipment from neighboring departments.

Upon arrival, firefighters initiated an interior fire attack. As fire conditions continued to worsen, crews were forced to transition to defensive operations in order to protect nearby buildings and prevent further fire spread.

As the incident continued, a third box alarm was requested to provide additional personnel, fire apparatus, and support for extensive firefighting and overhaul operations. Nearly 50 firefighters worked throughout the day to bring the fire under control.

Crews remained on scene through the afternoon and early evening extinguishing hot spots and conducting overhaul operations.

No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Clio Area Fire Authority would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance during this large and challenging incident. We would also like to thank the community members who provided water, sports drinks, snacks, and other support to firefighters working on the scene throughout the day.

This incident highlights the importance of strong mutual aid partnerships. The resources and personnel provided by neighboring departments played a critical role in bringing this fire under control and protecting surrounding properties.

🥰We are thrilled to share that on Tuesday, May 19th, at Millington High School, Roscoe Porter, the stepson of our own Firefighter Vincent DePaulis, was honored with special cords from the Clio Area Fire Department. This recognition celebrates Roscoe's remarkable four years of service as an Explorer with our department. During a heartfelt ceremony, Battalion Chief Leanne Pennington, along with Lt. Trevor Gleason, Sgt. Pam Collins, and Firefighter Vincent DePaulis, proudly presented Roscoe with his cords.

Roscoe graduates with an impressive GPA of 4.089, ranking in the top 5 of his class, and has received numerous awards for his outstanding academic dedication. His future plans include becoming a full-time firefighter, with an interest in forensic accounting. This fall, he will be taking the next step by attending the Fire Academy.

We are always seeking enthusiastic young individuals to join our Explorers program, where they can build teamwork skills and gain hands-on experience in the fire service. 🌟👨‍🚒
