We have received a lot of questions regarding the Firemen's parade. Unfortunately, we must announce that there will NOT be a parade this year.
Dear Residents,
I wanted to take a moment to explain why the difficult decision was made to cancel the parade this year. Please know this was not an easy choice, as we all love the parade and what it means to our community.
Unfortunately, the cost of hosting a parade continues to rise. There is the initial $1,500 deposit, along with the cost of city officers, wages and benefits, and the equipment needed to safely block off roads. This does not include the liability insurance required to protect against any accidents or unforeseen incidents.
The Clio Fire Department has approximately 25 dedicated men and women who volunteer their time each year to help make this event possible. They truly enjoy bringing the community together and being part of this tradition.
This year, several Clio organizations have joined together to host a Fourth of July celebration on July 3rd. However, with the expenses involved in organizing the parade, festivities, and fireworks, there simply were not enough resources to support everything. Unfortunately, something had to be cut.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support, and we hope everyone will still come out and enjoy the July 3rd festivities with us.
