🌲🎣 DICKENSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AT VA RULES CAMP 🎣🌲

Members of the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office were proud to partner with Dickenson County Behavioral Health Services during the VA Rules Camp at Breaks Interstate Park.

VA Rules Camp provides local youth with opportunities to learn valuable life skills, build confidence, develop healthy decision-making habits, and enjoy the great outdoors in a positive and supportive environment. Throughout the day, campers participated in educational activities while connecting with community partners dedicated to their success.

We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside Dickenson County Behavioral Health Services and other community organizations to invest in the future of our youth. Positive experiences, strong role models, and community partnerships help build a brighter future for Dickenson County.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this year’s camp a success, and to the campers for their enthusiasm and participation. We hope you had a fantastic time learning, exploring, and making memories at Breaks Interstate Park!

🏍️ LOOK TWICE, SAVE A LIFE 🏍️

As the weather warms up, more motorcycles are hitting the roads throughout Dickenson County. Motorcycles are smaller and can be difficult to see, especially at intersections and when changing lanes.

Drivers:
✅ Check mirrors and blind spots.
✅ Use turn signals.
✅ Allow motorcycles a full lane of travel.
✅ Leave extra following distance.

Motorcyclists:
✅ Wear DOT-approved helmets and protective gear.
✅ Stay visible with bright clothing and headlights.
✅ Ride sober and within your skill level.

A few extra seconds of caution can save a life.

📚☀️ Summer Reading Program Kickoff! ☀️📚

The Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office was excited to help kick off this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Haysi Community Library and the Jonnie B. Deel Memorial Library!

Reading opens the door to imagination, learning, and adventure, and summer is the perfect time for children to discover new stories and develop a lifelong love of books. We encourage all families to visit their local library, sign up for the Summer Reading Program, and take advantage of the many fun activities planned throughout the season.

Sheriff Fleming enjoyed spending time with the children, meeting families, and supporting an amazing program that helps keep young minds active and engaged during summer break.

A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at the libraries for their dedication to providing educational opportunities and enriching experiences for the children of Dickenson County.

🎉 Congratulations and Welcome to the Team! 🎉

The Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office is proud to congratulate our newest Communications Officers, Jordan Lee and Elijah Stallard, on successfully completing Dispatcher Basic Training through the Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy.

This accomplishment marks an important milestone as they begin their careers serving the citizens of Dickenson County. Our Communications Officers are often the first point of contact during emergencies, providing calm, professional, and critical support to both the public and first responders when it matters most.

Jordan and Elijah have demonstrated dedication, commitment, and a willingness to learn as they completed this essential training program. We are excited to welcome them to the DCSO family and look forward to the positive impact they will make in our Communications Center.

💦☀️ Making a Splash with Our Community! ☀️💦

The Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office had a fantastic time spending the day at the Splash Pad, enjoying the sunshine and connecting with families from across our community!

From handing out beach balls and water blasters to sharing laughs with children and parents, it was a day filled with smiles, fun, and plenty of water-filled excitement.

A special thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent, visited with Sheriff Jeremy Fleming and our staff, and helped make the day such a success. Seeing our local children having fun, staying active, and making summer memories is what community is all about.

We are proud to serve a county where families come together, friendships are built, and children can enjoy safe, fun events throughout the summer.

🍋 Fresh Lemonade and Community Connections in Haysi! 🍋

Sheriff Jeremy Fleming enjoyed spending part of his day at the Haysi Town-Wide Yard Sale, where he had the opportunity to meet community members, browse local treasures, and cool off with a cup of fresh lemonade from one of the young entrepreneurs set up along the route.

Events like these are a great reminder of what makes Dickenson County special—neighbors supporting neighbors, families spending time together, and young people learning the value of hard work and community involvement.
