🐟 No dinner plans tonight? 🍽️

Head on over to Frank’s Fish Shack and enjoy a great meal while supporting a great cause!

A portion of tonight’s proceeds will help support the Henry County Memory Fund, which assists local families and honors the memories of those we’ve lost.

Good food, great company, and a chance to give back to our community—it’s a win all around. Hope to see you there! ❤️

Mental health is incredibly important, and the news of losing another officer breaks our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family, friends, and fellow officers during this difficult time. We must continue to support those who serve our communities and remember that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. 💙🖤

The other day I spent time at the Henry County Assessor’s Office gaining insight into what the County Commissioners could do to better support their office and help make the public more aware of what they do.

I learned that last year there were 1,710 property transfers in Henry County, meaning roughly 10% of property ownership changed hands. The Assessor’s Office is held to strict state guidelines, including reassessing every property every two years.

One thing many people may not realize is that the Assessor’s Office also handles the mapping for the county GIS system. We discussed several ideas, including regular work sessions with the commissioners and even bringing back live phone operators at the courthouse like they once had.

As an independent candidate, these are the conversations that matter to me — listening, learning, and working for the people, not politics. It was truly a pleasure sitting down not only with Scott Largent, but also with the support staff, to hear their concerns, answer questions, and better understand the important work they do every day for Henry County.

Over the weekend, my family and I spent time enjoying the Montrose Festival. I’m terrible about taking pictures, but honestly, on weekends we try to disconnect from technology and just live in the moment.

I had the chance to visit with several people, lose badly at the putt-putt greens, and help the kids collect candy during the parade. It was actually the first time in 10 years that I got to sit back and watch the parade instead of being in it.

This summer, I’ll be back in the parade twice, once with Gary’s Towing and a second time out campaigning. Events like this are what make small-town communities special, and I’m grateful for every conversation and every memory made along the way.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a time to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As we spend time with family, attend cookouts, or enjoy the sunshine, let’s also take a moment to honor those who never made it home and the families who carry that sacrifice forever.

I’m grateful for the service and sacrifice of our veterans, active military, and especially those we remember today.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
