Localized heavy rainfall is possible from I-72 and south today.

Poor air quality is also expected between the Chicagoland area and I-74 this afternoon. This may have an effect on sensitive groups.

05/26/2026

Fair weather is expected across central Illinois most of today, then showers and a few storms will inch north from southern Illinois to around the I-72 corridor tonight into Wednesday morning. The chance for precip late in the week has shifted south of the area.

05/22/2026

Widely scattered showers are possible this afternoon and evening, mainly east of I-55, but much of the day will be dry. Temps will top out in the upper 60s to lower 70s today, but a warming trend will kick off this weekend.

05/19/2026

While severe weather is still a risk for later today, the most likely area has shrunk from earlier projections. The main focus will be in areas near and south of I-70, though a few stronger storms are possible as far north as Champaign and Danville. Damaging winds remain the primary concern, though some isolated large hail is also possible.
