Another beautiful day is in store today, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s.

Showers and thunderstorms possibilities exist beginning tomorrow and lasting through Saturday. Thursday night/Friday morning present the greatest chance for severe storms and excessive rainfall for our area, but the threat remains low at this time.

Heavy rain leading to localized flooding will present a threat today for our area. Rain is expected to fall for a good majority of the day.

On the border for Level 1/5 and 2/5 risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds, large hail, and possible tornadoes may all present a threat today.

Heavy rain looks to result in 1.5 to 2 inches of rainfall across most of central and southeast IL today, with amounts locally exceeding 3 inches. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible from around 2 to 10 PM today, especially near and south of I-72. Flooding as well as locally damaging wind are the main threats with thunderstorms, although a few tornadoes may develop as well, with a few instances of hail up to around 1 inch diameter.

Sangamon and Shelby. In east central Illinois, Champaign, Clark,
Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie and Vermilion. In
southeast Illinois, Clay, Crawford, Effingham, Jasper, Lawrence
and Richland. In west central Illinois, Cass, Fulton, Morgan,
Schuyler and Scott.

* WHEN...From Sunday morning through late Sunday night.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
