The Extreme Heat Warning continues today.

There is also a chance for some isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and evening along and north of I-74. Timing looks to be between 2pm-8pm.

Extreme Heat Warning is now in effect until 7pm Friday.

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to
around 105. Expect minimal relief overnight with lows in the mid
70s.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, southeast, and west
central Illinois.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The heat continues today. Temperatures will be in the 90s and heat indices in the 100s.

Periods of showers and storms are possible both Thursday and Friday evening as well. Potential for damaging winds and large hail exist. We currently sit at a Marginal (Level 1) Risk for both days.

A beautiful day is in store for today. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s with low humidity.

Next week, we’ll see an uptick in temperatures and humidity, bringing hot and humid conditions. Temperatures will be in the 90s and heat indices may reach the low 100s.

A partial lunar eclipse will be visible this evening in central IL! Skies should be clear for the eclipse to be seen. The eclipse will start at 9:34pm and peak around 11:13pm tonight!

Sky conditions are looking good for most of the central and southeast Illinois to be able to view Thursday night's lunar eclipse. In a lunar eclipse, the Moon passes into the Earth's shadow. About 96% of the Moon's disk will be covered by the shadow. The eclipse begins at 9:34 pm and peaks at 11:13 pm, with the visible phase ending at 12:51 am Friday. No specific equipment is needed to view a lunar eclipse, just your eyes and the ability to stay up late.

Plenty of sunshine over the next several days. Temperatures will be in the 80s the rest of this week and begin to climb back into the 90s during the beginning of next week.
