Yesterday, we had the opportunity to meet a firefighter from North Kensington Fire Station with the London Fire Brigade, who stopped by to share his amazing story with us.

He is currently cycling around the world as part of the Grenfell World Cycle Tower to Tower challenge. His journey began in London and has already taken him more than 17,000 miles through numerous countries and stops at many fire departments with his travels now bringing him across America and along Historic Route 66!

His mission is about much more than cycling. He is raising awareness and money for The Grenfell Foundation, supporting youth projects and schools in the North Kensington community in London.

What stood out to us was the brotherhood of the fire service.

Here we are in Clinton, Oklahoma thousands of miles away from London and working in a completely different country, when a firefighter walks through our doors there is an immediate connection. The uniforms may look different, the equipment may be different but the values of service and helping others remain the same.

It was an honor to welcome him into our station, hear his story, and be a small part of his incredible journey.

From London to Clinton, the fire service truly is one family.

If you’d like to follow his journey check out his media Stephen Aslin

Safe travels!

🔥 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK 🔥

With extreme heat, dry conditions, and rapidly drying vegetation, the risk of grass fires is extremely high.

We strongly encourage everyone to stay hydrated and to stay out of this heat whenever able and to avoid burning to limit anything that could cause a fire.

The Clinton Fire Department has responded to multiple grass fires this past week, and no significant rain is expected in the near future.

Custer County is currently operating under Wide Area Response tactics. Multiple fire departments are automatically toned out to fires in an effort to get additional resources on scene quickly.

80–90% of grass fires are caused by human activity. Please do your part:
• Avoid unnecessary burning
• Be careful with equipment that creates sparks
• Don’t park vehicles in dry grass
• Properly dispose of ci******es
• Never leave a fire unattended

It only takes one spark. Help us prevent the next fire.

Stay safe and if you don’t have to burn, don’t!

🚨 RED FLAG WARNING TODAY 🚨

Critical fire weather conditions are expected across parts of western Oklahoma this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING from 1 PM to 9 PM CDT today due to a dangerous combination of extreme heat, very low humidity, and strong winds.

🔥 WHAT TO EXPECT:
• 🌡️ Temperatures up to 106°+
• 💨 South winds 15–20 MPH, gusting up to 30 MPH
• 💧 Relative humidity as low as 14%
• 🌾 Extremely dry fuels across western Oklahoma

These conditions can lead to rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior. A small spark can quickly turn into a fast-moving wildfire.

PLEASE DO YOUR PART TODAY:
❌ Avoid outdoor burning
❌ Avoid activities that could create sparks
❌ Don’t park or drive through tall, dry grass
❌ Properly dispose of ci******es
✅ Report any wildfire or smoke immediately

With wildfire activity already increasing across western Oklahoma, today is NOT the day to take chances.
