UPDATE: It is believed that the bear has moved on. Please keep in mind that even though we are a densely settled down, we still have numerous green corridors and railroad tracks that larger wildlife use for foraging and migrating. Bears are trying to bulk up for winter. Be sure to secure your trash and take in your bird feeders until they start hibernating.

Please be advised, there has been a bear sighted in the High Street/West Street area of town. Please use an abundance of caution if you live in the area. It is recommended that residents stay inside until the bear moves along. Under no circumstances should anyone approach the bear. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Today, Saturday, September 5th, there was a small ceremony to honor members of the Clinton Police Department, Clinton Public Safety Dispatch Center, Clinton Fire Department, and Sterling Fire/ALS for their life saving efforts during the response to a call for a person in cardiac arrest at work on Friday, April 3, 2026. The ceremony also included the person who was involved in the medical emergency, who is up and about, back to work, and grateful for everything that was done to save their life.

The Officers, Dispatchers and EMS teams all worked together to save the victims life by gathering and sharing appropriate information from the 911 call, responding quickly to the scene (CPD Officers were on scene in LESS than one minute), beginning CPR, activating and utilizing the AED, and getting the victim safely transported to the hospital for further treatment.

CPD Officers Kristopher Vazquez and Shane Gilman, Public Safety Dispatchers Amaiyah Duran, James Moffat, Dispatch Supervisor Dan Walsh, CFD Fire Fighter/EMTs Brian Sibbald, Robert Gaudet, and David Nelley, CFD Captain Jason Burton, along with members of Sterling ALS were all honored and received a Governor's Citation, presented by State Representative Meghan Kilcoyne, for their outstanding work and professional actions on that April afternoon.

The perfect example of teamwork, professionalism, dedication and a commitment to keep our community safe. Big shoutout to all those involved in this life saving response and the successful outcome.

September is Emergency Preparedness Month 2026

September 2026 is officially declared Emergency Preparedness Month in Massachusetts, with Governor Maura Healey encouraging residents, businesses, and communities to take simple steps to prepare for disasters and emergencies. The month-long campaign is led by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).

To help the public better prepare themselves and their families, MEMA will promote four preparedness messages during Emergency Preparedness Month: 1) Be Informed, 2) Develop a Plan, 3) Build a Kit, and 4) Get Involved. Throughout the month, MEMA will encourage all residents of the Commonwealth to: learn the hazards and risks that may affect their communities; find out how to receive emergency warnings and critical information from local and state emergency managers and public safety officials; prepare comprehensive family emergency plans; build emergency kits that are stocked with supplies that will help sustain individuals and families during disasters; and become involved in community efforts to build resilience.

IMPORTANT TRAFFIC NOTICE - Main Street - Road closure
Due to culvert and road repairs, Main St (Route 110/62) will be closed to through traffic starting on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, for approximately one (1) month.

Main St road closure will be from Union St to Church St.
Dunkin Donuts can be accessed from Union St and O'Malley’s Gas and Auto Repair can be accessed from Church St.
Please follow the signs for the DETOUR, by using Nelson St, School St or High St.

Trucks should follow the DETOUR signs for TRUCK ROUTE, which is CHESTNUT ST

If possible, avoid the area and use alternate routes to your destination, as delays may occur and detours are subject to change based on conditions.

Today (Wednesday, August 26, 2026), the Clinton Public Schools kicked off an exciting new school year for all their students, teachers and staff.

We want to take a moment to acknowledge the ongoing road construction and closure on Church Street near the Clinton Elementary School. We understand it may be inconvenient, and we greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.

The Clinton Police Department has assigned additional officers in the area around the schools, especially CES, to help ensure a smooth and safe start to the school year. The officers are ready to assist with navigating the construction and road closure during the beginning and end of the school days, as well as any other safety or traffic concerns. Working hand in hand with CPS staff, the bus drivers, and with the cooperation of parents and families, CPD is dedicated to making this first week of school a great experience for everyone.

We truly appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate these changes and some of these challenges together. We want EVERYONE to be safe, as well as getting the students to and from school as efficiently as possible. Your understanding makes a world of difference during this busy time!

PRESS RELEASE - NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION & ARREST

On August 18, 2026, the Clinton Police Department Drug Unit, DEA Worcester HIDTA, Marlboro Detective Unit, and the North Worcester County Drug Task Force, arrested Jose A Cuellar of 90 West Street Clinton, MA in a multi-agency investigation in Marlboro, MA. Cuellar had been identified as a Clinton based source of supply for distributing Co***ne in the Central/MetroWest MA areas. During the investigation Cuellar possessed, distributed, stored, and transported co***ne within our community as well as others in the North Worcester County targeted areas.

Detectives also executed a Massachusetts Narcotics Search Warrant issued out of Marlboro District Court for the residence of 339 Boston Post Road East in Marlboro, MA, established as the stash residence at the conclusion of this investigation.

Items seized as part of this investigation were 917 grams of co***ne, 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition, scales, Clonidine pills, packaging material consistent with manufacturing and distribution of narcotics, and $4813.00 seized as drug proceeds.

The street value of these drugs were over $91,700 dollars that could have poisoned our communities.

Cuellar's criminal charges included the Distribution and Trafficking of Co***ne over the 200 plus grams range as well as subsequent offenses for these crimes.

Cuellar was previously convicted for Trafficking in Co***ne and illegally possessing of firearms/ammunition in Middlesex Superior Court and received 5-7 years committed sentence in 2019 and was also on parole in Massachusetts for the similar co***ne charges.

Clinton Police Det/1st Sgt Miguel Martinez stated, “It was another great example of drug dealers not having jurisdictional boundaries and Law Enforcement’s drug units committed response to stopping these dangerous drugs from entering our communities. We are very grateful for our relationships with our Local, State, and Federal authorities who working together made this another successful investigation.”
