🐾 PLEASE LOOK BEYOND APPEARANCES 🐾

The older dogs. The shy dogs. The ones with scars, gray faces or imperfect bodies. The cats hiding quietly in the back of their kennels.

They are so often the last ones chosen.

But what if we weren’t so focused on physical appearance? What if, before making up our minds, we simply spent some time with a shelter dog or cat and gave them the chance to show us who they really are?

In animal welfare, you often hear the term “highly adoptable.” Those animals certainly deserve homes—but my heart has always pulled me toward the ones people consider less likely to be adopted. The overlooked. The misunderstood. The ones who may need a little more patience before they feel safe enough to let their true personalities shine.

If you’re thinking about adopting a new pet, consider volunteering at your local animal shelter first. Walk the dogs. Sit quietly with the cats. Spend time getting to know the animals beyond their kennel doors.

You may walk in believing you know exactly what you’re looking for—and walk out having fallen in love with the one you never expected.

This is only my opinion, but I’m confident you won’t regret giving an overlooked animal a chance. ❤️🐾

Let's get him into a loving home and out of the shelter!

💔 BO HAS WAITED LONG ENOUGH 💔

At 12½ years old, Bo knows what it feels like to have a home and someone who loves him. Sadly, when his person passed away, Bo lost the only life he knew and found himself back in a shelter—waiting once again for someone to choose him.

Bo is a loyal, friendly and playful senior who still has so much love and life left to give. He enjoys going on adventures, but he’s just as happy relaxing beside the person he loves. A fenced yard would be wonderful, although regular leash walks would make him happy, too.

Bo may do well with another dog after a proper introduction, or he would be perfectly content being your one-and-only.

This sweet boy has already experienced tremendous loss. Please don’t let him spend his golden years inside a shelter. He deserves a soft bed, a peaceful home and someone who will love him for the rest of his life.

Please share Bo’s story. The person he has been waiting for may be just one share away. ❤️🐾

We have a very exciting update to share on Simba, our shelter dog with Mega Esophagus! He recently had surgery that will hopefully greatly improve his condition, if not completely correct it. Simba's foster and support team shared this post. Thank you everyone who has helped this boy, especially his amazing foster, Marianne!

❤️ Simba Update — We Did It! ❤️

SIMBA’S SURGERY WENT WELL AND HE’S ON HIS WAY TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE!

We have some wonderful news to share, and it’s all because of YOU!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who donated, shared Simba’s story, and cheered him on, we raised all of the money needed for his surgery!

Simba has now had his surgery, and he is doing well! We couldn’t be more relieved and grateful to see this sweet boy on the road to recovery.

For the next six weeks, Simba will be recovering with his amazing foster mom, who has already given him so much love and care. She will be by his side through this important recovery period, making sure he gets everything he needs to heal and thrive. ❤️

And then comes the really exciting part…

SIMBA WILL BE READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME!

Once he has completed his six-week recovery and is cleared by his veterinary team, Simba will be available for adoption.

After everything this little guy has been through, we are so excited to see him get the happy, healthy life he deserves, filled with running, playing, cuddling, and a family of his very own.

💔 THREE YEARS IS FAR TOO LONG 💔

Our sweet Petey has spent three years waiting at the shelter for someone to finally choose him.

Lately, this once-happy boy has seemed especially sad. The spark in his eyes is beginning to fade, and it feels as though he’s wondering if a family will ever come for him. Petey still gets incredibly excited whenever someone visits—but once he realizes you’re staying to give him love and attention, he quickly settles down.

At six years old, Petey is friendly, intelligent and deeply devoted. He keeps his kennel perfectly clean and wants nothing more than to form a special connection with someone. He enjoys other dogs but can be particular about his canine friends, so a meet and greet would be important. He would also be perfectly happy being your one and only.

Petey doesn’t need another day in a kennel. He needs a person to love, a family to belong to and a home where the light can return to his eyes.

Please help us find the person who has been missing Petey all along. Even if you cannot adopt, sharing this post could be what finally brings his three-year wait to an end. ❤️🐾
