Due to a damaged electrical pole, Kentucky Utilities is going to have to shut off power to about 140 businesses and residences on the North side of Clinton. The broken pole will have to be removed and replaced with a new pole and lines replaced.

The estimated time of restoration is 2 hours, if all goes as planned.

Please avoid the intersection of US Hwy 51 and Depot Street (near Acees) to allow the KU linemen to work safely.

Updates will be made if necessary.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Train Derailment Recovery Update

CN Railroad and the Hickman County Office of Emergency Management continue to work diligently together, and we are grateful for the unified command that has been established throughout this incident.

At this time, CN contractors are continuing reconstruction efforts on both the railroad track and the railroad bridge. As a result, much of the heavy equipment used by recovery contractors is being demobilized from the area.

As the need for contractors decreases, we are hopeful that U.S. Highway 51 can be reopened at some point today.

We would like to thank the public for their patience during this large-scale incident. We also extend our appreciation to all emergency service partners from Hickman County and across the region, as well as the contractors and CN Railroad personnel who have assisted throughout the response and recovery efforts.

Our staff will continue working alongside CN Railroad officials until all recovery and restoration operations are complete.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Update on Train Derailment Near the Hickman County–Carlisle County Line

HICKMAN COUNTY, KY — At approximately 10:16 p.m. on May 31, Hickman County Emergency Management was notified of a possible train derailment involving a CN Railroad train near Peery Road along the Hickman County–Carlisle County line.

Initial assessments by responding agencies have confirmed that approximately 30 railcars and two locomotives, derailed at the incident site. The train was transporting a mixed freight load consisting of aggregate materials, automotive-related cargo, and various non-hazardous chemical products.

During the initial response, two railcars were identified as potential hazardous materials concerns. Following further assessment by hazardous materials specialists and railroad officials, it has been determined that these railcars do not pose a threat to public safety at this time.

As a result, the shelter-in-place advisory previously issued for residents located near the rail corridor in northern Hickman County has been lifted.

Emergency personnel remain on scene and continue to coordinate with CN Railroad representatives as recovery and remediation operations progress. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

The derailment site is located in a heavily wooded area beyond the end of Peery Road, creating significant access challenges for emergency responders and recovery crews. To ensure public safety and allow uninterrupted response operations, Peery Road remains closed until further notice. Residents and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

In addition, Highway 51 North between KY 288 and KY 80 in Arlington continues to be impacted by response activities. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to utilize alternate routes when possible.

Hickman County Emergency Management extends its appreciation to the many agencies assisting with the response, including:

* Hickman County Sheriff’s Office
* Hickman County Fire Rescue
* Hickman County Dispatch
* Clinton Fire Department
* Columbus Fire Department
* Clinton-Hickman County EMS
* Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office
* Carlisle County Emergency Management
* Region 1 Hazardous Materials Response Team
