The Music Doesn't Stop for the Rain.
Even though the rain kept the parade away, it couldn't stop the heart of The Morgan School Music Department.

Yesterday, our incredibly talented student musicians showed up and performed beautifully at the Memorial Day Observance. Their dedication ensured that the true meaning of the day was honored with the respect and solemnity it deserves.

We are so proud of these students for their flexibility, professionalism, and for representing Morgan so well—rain or shine! 🎺🥁

💙 Prioritizing Mental Health & Wellness 💙

Over the past week, all of our second-semester PE students completed QPR Training.

What is QPR? It stands for Question, Persuade, Refer—an evidence-based su***de prevention training. Just like CPR, QPR is a quick emergency intervention that equips individuals with the skills to recognize the warning signs of a su***de crisis and guide someone to the right help.

This vital lesson is part of our district’s ongoing commitment to promoting su***de awareness and mental health training for both our students and staff. We are so proud of our students for engaging in this important conversation and learning how to look out for one another. 🤝✨

🌱 Science in Action! 🌊

On Friday, our UConn ECE Environmental Science students swapped their desks for the great outdoors at Hammonasset Beach State Park!

After spending the year studying the incredible power of salt marshes—from protecting our coastlines to serving as vital wildlife nurseries—students got their hands dirty with some real-world conservation.

Partnering with Audubon Connecticut, they jumped right into an active restoration project in the Nature Preserve Area. Equipped with a collector's permit, students assisted with:
🐟 Seining & species identification
📊 Population counts of local fish and marsh organisms
📝 Collecting crucial ecological data

The best part? This data is being reported directly to the CT DEEP to help monitor biodiversity and track the health of the ecosystem. (And don't worry, all creatures were safely released after being counted! 🦀)

We love seeing our students apply their classroom knowledge to make a meaningful, real-world impact right here in our community. Incredible job, everyone! 👏👏

Yearbook adviser Shannon Robinson has been named the Connecticut Yearbook Adviser of the Year, recognizing her outstanding leadership and dedication to creating an inclusive, student-centered publication program.

The Morgan School yearbook program continues to earn national and state recognition for excellence in storytelling, design, and student journalism.

In addition, The Morgan School yearbook staff earned Gold Level distinction for the production of the 2026 yearbook, an honor that reflects the creativity, collaboration, and hard work of the entire student staff.

The program also received national recognition from Jostens, as one of last year’s yearbook spreads was selected for inclusion in the Jostens National Look Book, a prestigious publication that showcases some of the best yearbook pages and designs from schools across the country and serves as inspiration for yearbook programs nationwide. This is the program's 5th time being recognized in this publication.

These honors celebrate the dedication of Morgan’s yearbook program and the students who work throughout the year to capture the stories and spirit of the school community.

Congratulations to Mrs. Robinson and the entire Morgan Yearbook staff on this incredible achievement!
